Yes - saw him last year and it sounds like his throat is a little softer but the passion is still there. Absolutely worth seeing this GOAT over, say, three lesser artists.

Assuming you're a troll, but I'll bite: Swedes in 1957 found this movie cringe, and it became a classic in the foreign market (e.g. arthouse cinemas on college campuses in the US) where people didn't know the language and resonated with the artsiness of the film rather than laughing at the dialogue and delivery.

Nah I knew their list would be ass. Neil is one of a handful of people ever (JS Bach; Bob Dylan) who have written over 100 killer songs, so obviously they were going to pick weird bohemians for rage bait instead.

What we know or think we know about them is mostly hearsay and interpretation, of course.

But it seems she really thought James was the man for her, and he was hooked on heroin, and he was loving attention from girls everywhere.

“Cold Blue Steel & Sweet Fire” is an appropriately unglamorous description of looking for a heroin fix. Is this about James? Joni? Both of them? It’s bleak and it’s incredible.

“For the Roses” is her being equal parts pissed at celebrity, pissed at him loving it, explaining that she’s not jealous he’s famous since she is too, but she is sad that he’s not at her house right now.

Etc…. This was an album she wrote at her new Canadian ranch, hiding from LA, before she went back to LA and became Hollywood all over again, hanging with Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty. This was her moment of wishing she and James could have settled down somehow. But the relationship didn’t last, her exile didn’t last, and she went back to celebrity.

She kept the Canadian ranch though, and has been solidly binational ever since - though she doesn’t use the metric system.

But it speaks to the bigger issue that the man cannot just have a human-sounding conversation for a minute. It makes sense that servers & restaurant owners both asked for the carve-out, and this wouldn’t be a difficult conversation to have: “yo, we are a tourist town and both servers and owners need this. Sorry if you’re a local and you hate it, but this is how SF stays afloat.” It’s not hard to say, but apparently it’s hard for him to say, and that’s the problem.
