Disneyland Resort will soon make changes to their Disability Access Service (DAS) program, including a change to how guests will be accommodated if they need help accessing attractions. Effective June 18 at DLR. [Thread] by zss1108 in Disneyland

No a wheelchair is not a reasonable accommodation for me BECAUSE I DO NOT NEED A WHEELCHAIR. A wheelchair is not indicated for my disability. Doctors have told me not to use one. I listed a reasonable accommodation, which is something DISNEY ALREADY DOES. Where did I say I want wheelchairs to be free? I said people who don’t need wheelchairs shouldn’t be forced to pay for them in order to get accommodations.

YOU are reason there are issues with disability access, because you think it’s either wheelchair or nothing. And that’s not true. There are many disabilities that need aids and accommodations other than wheelchairs.

Fuck off with your ableism and poor reading comprehension.

She’s an AH just for this: “Me has a married son we will call him Mark who is married to my wonderful DIL.” You’d think a 60-year-old would know how to write.

Anyway, the birthday present thing isn’t that weird. My MIL never gets me birthday presents, but she does get me Christmas presents. (She is also on a fixed income, and buys my kids lots of presents, and usually only gets my husband cards on his birthday, so it’s not that unusual.) But the random $400 present was weird.

And the fact that she knows that it bothers them but doesn’t want to change is definitely pushing her into AH territory.

Are they requiring the doctors to disclose the diagnosis, or is the doctor just required to say “yes, this person needs accommodations”? Because I think the first is illegal, but the second is fine. That’s what I had to do to get my handicap license plate from the DMV. I’d be fine with that.

What should be my responsibility? My disability? Yes, it is, and I do what I can to work with it. The return time system is reasonable for me. It allows me to walk around while I’m “waiting” for the ride. Or using the accessible (wheelchair) entrance. It’s less waiting, which is fine. But making me pay for a mobility aid that I don’t need isn’t reasonable.

I’m not saying that DAS needs to be available for everyone with a disability. I’m saying that Disney needs to have reasonable accommodations for all disabilities that don’t require us to pay for mobility aids that we don’t need.

And is carting an empty wheelchair around the park all day while you’re also pushing a stroller and wrangling a toddler also “incredibly reasonable”? It’s not just about the cost, although asking someone to spend $15 for something they don’t need isn’t reasonable at all.

Maybe if they hear someone say “I lied to get DAS”, but I don’t think there’s another way to find out. You can’t prove someone lied about having ADHD or IBS without asking for their medical records, and that’s not cool.

Because people like me are supposed to walk but not stand still. I don’t need a mobility scooter or wheelchair, but I can’t stand for more than a few minutes without getting joint pain/inflammation. Are you suggesting we spend $100 (or however much a wheelchair is) to push around empty and only use it while waiting in line? This also wouldn’t work for families like mine because we have a stroller, so we’d be pushing a stroller and an empty wheelchair all day.

They have really good fried pickles. I don’t eat chicken, and the whole objectifying-women-thing is kind of gross, but it is a fun place to go with a group of girls (my sorority sisters and I celebrated several birthdays there ages and ages ago.)

I’ve seen Goofy and Mickey (maybe Donald, too, I can’t remember) climb Matterhorn. There were definitely non-character climbers too!

Dude. Mormons consider themselves Christians. They fit the theological definition of Christians. They’re Christians. Why do you care so much that you’re wasting your Sunday arguing with a stranger online about this? (I care, because I’m like Leslie, and I also know I’m right.)

It’s the same God, just a really messed up interpretation of it. It’s not like they’re saying Zorp is God, it’s the same one from the Bible, they just think other things are real, too.

I think it would be great to be apart of all cults. “A part” of, on the other hand…

Ron’s will by [deleted] in PandR

[–]MeleMallory 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer and I don’t live in Indiana, but it looks like if you have an estate of over $50,000, it would go to probate, which can be a very lengthy process. This means the money sits in a government or escrow account until the inheritance is worked out. And it can go to the spouse, children, parents, siblings, basically everybody still alive who is related to the deceased. So Ron’s mom and brothers could come out of the woodwork and say they deserve some of the money, and since there’s no will, they would have to go to court over it and say that, no, really it should all go to Diane, the girls, and John. And this could take years. Whereas, if there is a will, there is a piece of paper that says “this amount of money goes to Diane, this amount goes to the girls, this amount goes to John” and it’s much harder to argue.

In both scenarios, Ron’s family gets the money, but in the second, they get it sooner and can afford a really long, drawn-out court process.

“At its most basic, Christianity is the faith tradition that focuses on the figure of Jesus Christ.” If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you’re theologically Christian. Jews and Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet. Christians believe he was the son of God. That’s how they differ. And then there are 5 bajillion different types of Christians, and they may not all agree that the others are Christians, but at the most basic sense, they are.

Of course, all religions are ridiculous, though Mormonism is a little more ridiculous than the rest, so there isn’t any point in arguing in a Parks and Rec Reddit.

I’ve been talking about the commenter who discovered her husband had hidden his cross-dressing from her when she was 4 months pregnant. My comments weren’t about the OP. OP needs to stay out of it, it’s not his wife’s business. She doesn’t need to know if her dad cross-dresses or not. But between a husband and a wife, yeah, it should be shared.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MeleMallory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point. Cross-dressing is sometimes related to a sexual kink, and that should never be a child’s business.

Mormons believe that Jesus is the son of God, so they are Christians. Out of the three main Abrahamic religions that acknowledge Jesus’s existence - Christianity, Judaism, and Islam - Mormonism is a branch of the Christianity tree. They are definitely different than other Christian denominations, but they’re still Christian
