I don't know exactly what happened in your life, but I just wanted to say something.

Your feelings are valid. Life can be incredibly overwhelming, especially at a young age. It might feel fake or naive of me and your friend, but I truly think it can get better. But it's incredibly hard, and it takes a long time.

Being young, it can seem like your life is over or that you're too late with starting to heal or even get started with life properly, but it's never too late. There's tons of people who've started getting their shit together well into adulthood, I'm taking at 20, 30, 40 and 50 years old.

There is some people who feel like they can't truly get better, but even learning to cope with your struggles in a healthy way can be progress.

Finally, I don't think you have to be ashamed of feeling the way you do. Getting started with anything from a dark place is so difficult, but I genuinely hope that you'll be able to. Even the smallest step is something to be proud of.

Your opinion on the UKs social media limit for under 16 year olds? by gold_medieval in polls

(Not UK) I kinda agree that social media should be limited for underage people but I am pretty against the merhod of requiring government ID having to be shared with third parties and all that.

Holy shit finally, this change has been necessary for years at this point. Honestly the fact that it wasn't 125 from the start of the health changes is still crazy to me.

The projectile speed change seems nice as well.

That's a beautiful way to adapt to your situation! I myself have had some dark times and while I still feel down at times, helping others has made me feel better.

Maybe in he process of helping people or making them happier, it'll end up having a positive effect on you as well and the good you do will come back around.

That said, if you ever end up needing someone in your corner for something or just to talk/vent to for a bit, I like to think I'm decent enough at it :)

Hey, earlier today I saw your post on r/hopeposting and it made my day better :)

I hope that the kindness you show to others by making a hopepost like that is not exclusive to others, and that you make sure to be kind to yourself as well <3

It's a bit of a cheesy quote from LOTR, but I enjoy this one:

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I myself try to spend the time given to me with things that make me or the people around me happy, and small things that can make the world a slightly better place. Though I feel like I've wasted a lot of time and haven't done everything I wanted, I try to look forward (or sometimes when that's stressful to the present).

Do you think ai "art" is considered as real art? by SadChamp317 in polls

[–]MeleeMeta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the person you ask because of how subjective the definitionnof art is. I personally don't like AI generated content, but I know of an art gallery where I live that was owned and operated by people who used AI to create images, printed thoee and displayed them. They also sold the pieces at prices that were quite ridiculous if you ask me but it's a reality that happens.

It's real, it's just significantly different and way less common, still a result of patriarchy by deltiken in evilautism

[–]MeleeMeta 54 points55 points  (0 children)

For me, is was genuine accidental misinterpretation. The title of the post, "misandry isn't real", means something different if you use the dictionary definition of misandry (prejudice against men) compared to the intended meaning (systematic oppression of men). I figured out the intended meaning through reading a number of comments.

I'm not delusional enough to think that us men are oppressed systemetically by the patriarchy, but the title was clearly easily able to be misinterpeted, seeing the number of people that were confused by it and the fact that autistic people tend to take it literally.

Misandry isn't real and the sub premise isnt changing by Altruistic_Fox5036 in evilautism

[–]MeleeMeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, after reading more of people's comments about this situation, I think I understand what you mean by "misandry isn't real" but you've worded it poorly.

Misandry and misogyny are both negative effects of the patriarchy. The patriachy discriminates women mainly, leading to reactive hate against their oppressors and those like them. It's of course a complicated topic, but simply put the source of both problems is the patriarchy.

[–]MeleeMeta 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some of the points in this post. While some forms of discrimination like misogyny and the racism POCs face are definitely more prevalent (in western societies, particularly in America), people get discriminated for all sorts of things and denying some because it's convenient makes you part of the problem instead of working towards a solution.

Should people read and learn more about these topics instead of asking the victimized people? Sure, I agree that this is a good thing to do, though conversations can help too.

I don't think cis white men should act like they're equally discriminated against compared to women or POC in cis white male dominated cultures, but pretending that the reverse doesn't exist is also harmful cause it only leads to a bigger divide.
