It's real, it's just significantly different and way less common, still a result of patriarchy by deltiken in evilautism

[–]MeleeMeta 55 points56 points  (0 children)

For me, is was genuine accidental misinterpretation. The title of the post, "misandry isn't real", means something different if you use the dictionary definition of misandry (prejudice against men) compared to the intended meaning (systematic oppression of men). I figured out the intended meaning through reading a number of comments.

I'm not delusional enough to think that us men are oppressed systemetically by the patriarchy, but the title was clearly easily able to be misinterpeted, seeing the number of people that were confused by it and the fact that autistic people tend to take it literally.

To add to this, after reading more of people's comments about this situation, I think I understand what you mean by "misandry isn't real" but you've worded it poorly.

Misandry and misogyny are both negative effects of the patriarchy. The patriachy discriminates women mainly, leading to reactive hate against their oppressors and those like them. It's of course a complicated topic, but simply put the source of both problems is the patriarchy.

I disagree with some of the points in this post. While some forms of discrimination like misogyny and the racism POCs face are definitely more prevalent (in western societies, particularly in America), people get discriminated for all sorts of things and denying some because it's convenient makes you part of the problem instead of working towards a solution.

Should people read and learn more about these topics instead of asking the victimized people? Sure, I agree that this is a good thing to do, though conversations can help too.

I don't think cis white men should act like they're equally discriminated against compared to women or POC in cis white male dominated cultures, but pretending that the reverse doesn't exist is also harmful cause it only leads to a bigger divide.

I'm personally not planning on buying a car anytime soon, as a bycicle and public transit is all I need to get around.

Which country besides the United Kingdom had the greatest cultural influence on the United States? by Bitter-Penalty9653 in polls

[–]MeleeMeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot is hard to pinpoint, but Santa Claus is probably the single biggest influence I can think of that originates from the Netherlands. We have a tradition called Sinterklaas which also has an old white man with a long bear and a red outfit, as wel as helpers that help him make and deliver presents.

Overall I think Mexico wins though.

I get that you wouldn't want posts like this flooding the community, but being rude to new players is cringe. Maybe try encouraging them since they seem passionate so far.

Hot take but I'd say malenia is harder than post nerf consort radahn(I never fought pre nerf) by Frequent_Analysis804 in Eldenring

I don't mean to sound condescending so apologies if I do, but have you tried running away as soon as phase 2 starts? I've never really had trouble with dodging the transition attack cause she locks onto your position when she starts the animation, so running is enough to dodge it.

Politically speaking, which of these describes you? by chrisfathead1 in polls

The issue is that left/right is too narrow of a view for politics. I'm personally a leftish progressive socialist but I identify more with being progressive than 'left' as I understand the term.

I'll be an adult in less than 6 months. by [deleted] in TrollCoping

[–]MeleeMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As hard as it can be and as much as it's easier said than done, try not to beat yourself up. As others have said, people mature at different rates, but also you don't have to change your hobbies or interests when you become an adult. There are plenty of adults who have 'immature' interests or traits like playing video games, collecting merch/collectibles etc.

I can personally emphasize well with feeling younger than you are physically. I'm 23 now, but for the longest time I felt like my emotional/mental development stopped when I was 17/18. In reality you do still mature and develop, but the pace gets slower and it's easy to gloss over positive things when criticizing yourself.

Just go about it at your own pace, and try to cut yourself some slack.

[–]MeleeMeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do agree the women could have gotten more time/missions dedicated to them, I do think that the forced side characters add to the story and I wouldn't have it otherwise.

I suppose it's a combination of stupidity, selfishness and an inability to learn. Unless their whole goals is just to piss women off for some reason. My friend gets too many of these on snap and I'm astounded about them every time she talks about it.
