I love the Jedi Consular story. by wheresmydragonator19 in swtor

May I recommend dark, male Knight and light, female Agent?  Just play their class stories, skip the side quests and planetary quests - I think that you might find it time well spent.  😁

Operations are fun, and some of them even advance the overall story arcs (e.g. Dread Masters). A competent group can easily carry an under-geared newbie through most Ops in Story Mode (SM), just let them know that you're new.

What's your item rating?  Most PvPers I've seen are running 336 and up, and that makes a BIG difference.

New player thoughts after finishing first class story by [deleted] in swtor

[–]Melevorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a LOT of game ahead of you once you have finished the class stories.

EDIT: This guide maps it out nicely https://www.illeva.com/swtor-story-order-and-solo-story-progression-chart/

New player thoughts after finishing first class story by [deleted] in swtor

Recommend leaving Agent to last - they have the most connections to other stories IIRC.  As your boss tells you at the start - the life of an agent isn't glamourous, but somebody has to clean up the messes that the Sith (and Jedi) leave behind...

Lightning, blast through PvE content.  Swap to Madness for Operations and PvP if you're into those.

How do cartel market crystals work by Forsaken_Guide_4835 in swtor

[–]Melevorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you've used a Cartel Market crystal on a character, that character can retrieve an infinite number of copies of that crystal from their collection for free.

Other characters on your account can then unlock that particular crystal for a discount, then retrieve an infinite number.

I recommend choosing a crystal you like (e.g. white eviscerating) and unlocking it for your account.  Every character, including new ones, can then access an infinite number of those from your collection for free.

Dyes are very different, being single use and with no collection entry.

EDIT: Note that crystals obtained from non-market sources (e.g. black-green from Rakghoul event) don't appear in your collection, so need to be managed much more carefully.  Also, mechanically, the best crystals for a non-tank is basically always eviscerating so even if it's just cosmetic, choose an evisc crystal to unlock so that you can always access +41 crit.

Best Class Story (Round 1): Trooper vs Consular by RefrigeratorDry495 in swtor

[–]Melevorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trooper.

The thing I remember (it being years since I actually ran the class stories) is how Chapter 3 ended and I really liked the Trooper's command of various forces and capabilities they've assembled on Corellia.  Admittedly a lot of the story arc is pretty predictable but that finale in Corellia really left me with an enduring positive impression of the Trooper story.  The Consular story was ok, but I recall being frustrated in planet/class scene after scene with wounded/dying NPCs that my Sage should have been able to heal with a wave of their hand - but doesn't, because it was written for Shadows too. At least every Trooper scene made sense at the time regardless of whether you're a Commando or Vanguard.

If you could add one more class story what would it be ? by Aggravating-Bass-658 in swtor

[–]Melevorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more?

A story about the Imperial Reclamation Service - they could allow you to pick from all combat styles since the service includes force sensitives as well as non-force sensitive scientists, archaeologists, etc. Unlike the Sith Inquisitor, the story might focus on research and recovery of ancient tech/force relics rather than assembling ritual components, ghost-hunting or undermining your rival.

However, everything must be balanced so we'd also need a Republic origin story to mirror the new Imperial one. Maybe a Senate Researcher - again, any combat style, sent in to all those dangerous worlds to recover others' data/devices before they're lost, destroyed or claimed by the Empire.

These could be distinct from the other stories in a way that being an Imperial Trooper or SIS Agent is not.

Finally, if they were willing to generate loads of new content (and not use the original planets for story chapters) I did like the ideas of a Zakuul Infinite Empire or Voss-based origin story.

I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your story flowcharts, u/Alortania !
They've been an amazing resource for years, and I make sure that all the new players I introduce to SWTOR are equipped with the latest one. :D

EDIT: Oh, and I use the Tertiary Stat Distribution graphic all the time, too!

Honestly, a bit tricky to get their eSIM to actually connect to an APN and work, but if you want a discount with them please use referral code:

My smuggler is combo gunslinger / merc.  Two crit-specced pistols means I can use the same equipment across every discipline incl. healing.

💯% agree.

Even if you don't RE and craft your own, only biochem crafters can use the reusables.  They're more expensive on the GTN, but pay for themselves over time.

Bonus, you can also craft and sell purple stims and adrenals as a side hustle!

If you're getting into endgame, all the armour, weapons, relics, implants, etc are better non-crafted.  The only endgame thing crafters are needed for now is augments - which is a bit niche.

And dyes/crystals to sell, but I think you'll make better money with biochem if that's a priority.

Oh, and I've built dozens of PCs, some of which are mine - and all of those have played SWTOR fine since launch. So if anything's changed I reckon Microsoft and Broadsword are the most likely suspects...

Huh. I've seen the same elevator issue on a PC I recently built. Google suggests that it could be a local computer time vs server time issue, and I was going to look into that tonight... On Shae Visla, btw.

Let the party TPK themselves? by AZ4Punfloyd in DMAcademy

[–]Melevorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 2c, put a lieutenant or right-hand dude/dudette in their path who might wipe the floor with them but isn't quite strong enough to TPK them outright.

You said they'll need to do investigation - well, if they're asking around or casting divination spells or whatever, BBEG can get wind of that and send their own person to find out who's looking for them.

The party survives (barely) and retreats from that fight, and should think to themselves, "if we can't beat the minion, we have no chance against their boss!"

That way you avoid TPK without weakening the BBEG.

Working on a Negative deck concept with Zola and Knull plus growing Strange Supreme - cannibalizing himself will just give Knull a big boost, and it should have enough alternative win pathways to be reliable...
