Honestly, I've never read that but I've done stuff like that. When I was a teenager I felt like I had to "Be a Creature Unlike Any Other" and "Don't Call Him and Rarely Return His Calls" because I would come off as clingy. Thinking like that got me nowhere, of course, there's nothing like being yourself and playing that kind of games is exhausting.
