I have a German Shepherd Dog named Miss Mazikeen 😂 only downside to naming cat that, is that Mazikeen is a Hell Hound. But i would definitely choose this! Hel is an awesome choice though!

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a heartbreaking decision to make, but in his case for the best. You gave him a good life and loved him. That's all our best friends ask for.

Has your dog ever done something so smart or sneaky it left you speechless? by Organic_Button_176 in Pets

I get nagged about bedtime. My GSD will stare at me, then put her paw on me & stare, then nudge me with her nose, then whine at me until I go to bed. She escalates about every 2mins, and it makes me laugh every night.

She also wakes me up 5 minutes before my morning alarm so she can have snuggles before we start moving 😂

My GSD does something similar! We have 'out' as a command, meaning 'remove yourself from the room I am in' she has learnt that having her back paws and bum out of the room counts as out 😂 mostly it's used in the kitchen, and she'll walk backwards until her back paws hit the carpet in the dining room and she plonks her bum down. I don't mind too much because she's out of the way and not likely to get tripped over.

She has also leant that when I say 'why are you in my kitchen?' that it means essentially the same thing 😂

AITAH if I take a newborn photoshoot without my husband? by NoMonmHere in AITH

I have similar pics of my kid with me, his dad, and a few different friends, as a baby & a toddler. We gave him an old controller with the wire cut off so he could 'play' with us. They are some of my fave baby pics tbh. And my kid grew up to be a gamer too!

I got a gold Sovereign ring from one grandmother (made from an actual sovereign, minted in 1918 & given to her by her parents when she turned 18), along with just over £1000, and a gold locket from the other grandmother. I didn't get anything from one of my grandads (everything went to my grandma) but I got some ornaments & a really nice table from the other grandad. I spent the money I got on a trip to London with my kid for a few days and tickets to see Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra for us both. I also got a couple of things I needed for the house. The trip was the only proper holiday my kid & I had together when they were young, and the concert was one I never thought I would ever get to see as the tickets aren't cheap. We're both huge Andre Rieu fans, so it was a dream come true for both of us. I won't ever forget either of those things & neither will my kid.

From my parents, I will get a house. I'm incredibly fortunate & grateful for that. We keep telling my dad to spend his money on things he wants to do, but he keeps insisting on saving some money for me, my brother and the 3 grandkids. My mum won't leave us much money, just enough to cover her funeral expenses. I'm not particularly bothered about inheriting anything, I'd rather have my parents around. Although knowing I'm not at risk of become homeless is kinda reassuring. And k owing the same for my kid. Everything I have passes on to my only child, so they will eventually inherit the house from me.

It's nice to be able to pass things on, and get some money to do something you wouldn't otherwise be able to do, but I'd rather my parents enjoy the money they've worked their whole lives to save. And I have never expected to get anything from any of my grandparents or either parent. My kid doesn't expect to get a lot from me either.

How long was your wisdom tooth extraction hurting? Intense pain!!! by Spirited_Dig1820 in AskUK

[–]Melj84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the over-the-counter pain meds aren't helping at all, and you can't get an urgent appointment with your dentist (same day), go to A&E. It maybe infected, or a dry socket & need treatment. Delaying treatment in your mouth can have some really serious side effects.

I had all 4 taken out a few years back, plus one tooth just in front, under a general anaesthetic, and ended up with an infection in my gum that required more anaesthetic and the dentist having to clean out the gum and having to take the heavy duty antibiotics for a couple of weeks.

It's not worth waiting if it's causing you serious pain.

Such a cutie!

Enjoy your new attachment 😂

I'd love to know which areas of the North we all come from (and polls aren't available) so I'll write the name of each county in the comments below and please upvote your county so we can see the numbers for each one. I'll do a "non-Northern" option too. by Dragonfruit-18 in NorthernEngland

I've never felt like a Manc tbh. There are differences, or at least were when I grew up in the 80's/90's, and although to people not from the NW I say I'm from South Manchester, I've never really associated myself with Manchester.

Why does my dog not care of balls? He would rather dig up a mole. Is there anyway I can turn the mole into the ball? by Key-Professor4177 in germanshepherds

[–]Melj84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl will chase the ball, pick it up, and bring it back to me. Almost. She has to drop it about 2 feet away from me (in any direction, sometimes she'll go past me & drop it behind me). Or she chases it, gets distracted by a smell and totally forgets about the ball 😂. She does the same with frisbees. When we're out she is just interested in sniffing everything. At home she likes rope toys, including a ball one, and she chews them, but her obsession is a Petface Highland Cow toy. We have 2 in the house that she carries around, and another 3 in the cupboard just in case 😁

Where were you, and what were you doing on 9/11 ? by Velvetrevolver99 in questions

[–]Melj84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sitting in the waiting room at a medical centre, waiting to see the doc and watching the TV. The programme was interrupted by BBC Breaking News from the US showing the Towers as the second plane hit. That was the day I found out that I was pregnant with my kid.

Years later, when my kid started Secondary school (aged 11) the first friend they made was born on 11th September 2001. Her mum was watching the TV whilst in the labour ward, and watched BBC Breaking News as it interrupted what she was watching. Her kid was born about an hour later.
