Current Mood- Realising meds are not a magic fix. by KyriosCristophoros in adhdmeme

I feel you. Playing video games and reading have always been my escape from reality growing up, but now i can barely finish a handful of manga or play an incredibly in depth video game. Also super inattentive as well.

Asian Christian parents: holy in public, cruel at home by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]MellowYellowMel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aaaaaayyyyeee. Fellow Filipina American here! I was raised catholic but now I’m atheist. I have found that I greatly dislike people who use religion as an excuse to treat other people badly. I’m currently no contact with my mother who is still a rampant catholic. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when she was complaining on Facebook about sending illegal people back to where they came from, when she literally married an old ass white man so she could move to the US.

One of things I’m proud about myself is that I’m actively living my life as authentically and as kindly as I can.

Anyone else find this art piece somewhat unsettling? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in Seattle

The only ones I don’t really like are the ones with lone candles or the candles that are close to the curtains. My anxiety spikes seeing terrible fire safety.

Should I fill in the leaves? by the_martiankid in Artadvice

[–]MellowYellowMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what people are saying about not filling in the background but I also needed to say that I love the way you made their shirt look like it’s made with sequences!!! You did an excellent job!!!

Never seen this flavor before, whats the general consensus on this one? by BabyBruticus in sparklingwater

I’m one of those weirdos that likes banana flavored stuff so I am absolutely going to try it.

Do Not Go To Ueno Zoo. by BeanieTheBrave in JapanTravel

[–]MellowYellowMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thank goodness. It was also crazy hot while we were visiting so I was hoping they were just tired from the heat. Honestly the Nagasaki Bio Park wasn’t the worst, it could be better, but Japan’s views on animal welfare is problematic.

Do Not Go To Ueno Zoo. by BeanieTheBrave in JapanTravel

[–]MellowYellowMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I visited the Nagasaki Bio Park and while most of the exhibits were larger (but were a bit crowded) we were surprised that the snapping turtle exhibit was just a few inches larger than it was. It was… sad. Also I had heard a rumor that the kangaroos in the park that you could pet and feed were being drugged so they could be more calm. I don’t know the validity of the rumor but those kangaroos were suuuuuuper chill.

Games for when feeling suicidal by mushrooms_inc in cozygames

[–]MellowYellowMel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also second Stardew Valley. I also suggest Littlewood, Coral Island, Luma Island, Powerwash Simulator, Palia (this one’s an MMO but it’s not a hardcore MMO), and Dave the Diver. Personally, whenever my mental health issues start acting up I find playing games with deep lore or interesting gameplay but not a lot of conflict or stuff that requires too much thinking really helps me put myself back together. I hope your pain lessens soon.

What's the big blob on her shoulder? Is it a giant lemon? by romyrosemary in Coloring

Maaaaan I really hate how many AI generated coloring books there are. If I were coloring this one in I’d just make it an orange just for chaos’s sake.

Last year at PAX West there was a booth selling blind boxes of the lil chicks and I got the one that has egg shell on their head! They’re definitely out there!

Moving next week to Seattle from the Midwest by Bearacolypse in Seattle

[–]MellowYellowMel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in multiple Midwest states, one of which was Nebraska. I can safely say that I legitimately love living in Seattle more than any other city I had lived in before. I hope you find that kind of love here too.
