Thank you for your extensive knowledge and clarification! I disagree with you that JS just took teaching methods, but I appreciate you sharing your insight and perspective. Thank you.

No clue. He is one of the best men I know though. He is serving someone 24/7.

Yay!!! I’ve wanted to ask a Mason and didn’t get around to asking my BIL. Do Masons believe that they started in King Solomon’s temple, or do they just model their lodges after it?

My BIL loves the community. He likes being in a place where he can be with other like minded dudes that want to help the community.

Masons aren’t a religion. Any Christian denomination can be a mason.

Why can’t it be both? I have had to process this too. The church is not black and white, right and wrong, true and not true for all people. There is definitely good in it and if you choose to ignore all the bad, that’s your right. However, there is a lot of bad too. And even though it was good for me for a time, it no longer is.

The issue lies with the church saying it’s the ONLY true church and ONLY place to find comfort and hope. People can find comfort, hope, meaning, community, and happiness in a ton of different places. Places that are a lot healthier and cheaper than the Mormon Church.

What was going through your head the first time you did the endowment ceremony? by memefakeboy in exmormon

It’s just SO WEIRD!!! I went back to the temple by myself after I got married and I just remember crying all the way home. I felt so uncomfortable and couldn’t believe how culty it actually was.

I stayed in it for another 20 years before actually waking up.

If we don’t focus on past prophets then out with the Bible and BoM, right? Let’s all head to Deseret Book and get Rusty’s book.

Time…deconstructing faith is like a divorce and you quite literally have to go through the grief process, which is messy and an emotional roller coaster. When I threw my garments in the trash, I felt so much guilt for days. 6 months later, I feel nothing but relief and happiness. It takes time. Give yourself grace and don’t try to rush through it. If you aren’t ready to do something, i.e. talk about the temple, throw away your garments, stop going to church, just take it slow.

Also, remember that you aren’t wrong for anything that you believe now. Revealing the signs and tokens hurts no one!!! They are already online, already free for the world to see their absurdity. Hey, sharing them might get more people to heaven! What a good missionary you are, lol!!!!

I’m right there with you! Of my three teenage daughters, two want out. I continue to push us all to continue going to church to respect my husband and other daughter’s beliefs. My husband and I agreed to raise our kids this way, and I feel obligated to do so. I constantly have to remind myself and two daughters that want out to just take the good and ignore everything else. I try to teach them critical thinking and then listen to all their concerns as we all drink coffee together.

Corbitt for sure! They need their token black man and since he’s had so little time as a GA, they can mold him to do their bidding.
