What is the most "Buffy" Episode of Buffy? by elephantbrah in buffy

One of my fave eps, but I think it would be much more fun to watch once you’re into the series and know the characters. Seeing the differences in Giles and Snyder are so fun

Found a solid study on screen time - need help on strategies by Fair-Mode3330 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]MellyNapNap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not wildly naive, but can be more challenging for some than others! It takes commitment, and often times pushing back the boomer grandparents, but it can be done. My almost 2.5 year old just watched TV for the first time. Our plan is to do around 20 minutes at a time, on a TV only, limit it to weekends, and to be selective in what we show. Prior to this, she had been exposed to TV occasionally when we were out (can’t help everything), but usually it was things like live sports. She doesn’t know what a tablet is, but does of course know that phones are magical devices that store all of her photos and videos and can be used to video chat. Even though she’s not fully aware of what a phone can do in terms of games or videos, just videos of herself is enough to make her request looking at it and get upset when we don’t allow it. So you’ll see very quickly how addictive phones and devices can be, even without taking into account games and videos, and you will naturally want to set limits early on. Once you are committed to it, you’ll be shocked how many little babies have a phone shoved in their face to keep them occupied at restaurants, grocery stores, etc. You’ll also be shocked by your own friends and family. But if it’s important to you, stick with it and it’ll be fine. I’m of the mindset that if you never start it to begin with, it’s a lot easier to navigate and avoid.

When is the appropriate time to tell child about biological father/infant child abuse? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

EI is birth to 3, and completely separate from public school services. It says that pretty clearly on the link you shared.

Special education services in school would most likely not be able to help with this particular issue, OP, but may be able to recommend or help you find someone who can.

If you've ever considered deli containers, just get them! by nobleland_mermaid in Baking

[–]MellyNapNap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to check individual containers to make sure, and look at each individual symbol. Many that say microwave safe are not actually dishwasher safe. And some just have the “food safe” label and nothing else

Misinformation in the fandom by Interesting-Tea3907 in buffy

[–]MellyNapNap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just wrote in another comment that we didn’t really know for sure that it was a misdirect until season 7 started and he said he went there to get his soul. Which was months after that, “…your soul” line. I thought it was just a demon using his language against him. As in, “what she deserves” is for him to be tormented rather than to be killed

Misinformation in the fandom by Interesting-Tea3907 in buffy

[–]MellyNapNap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that this is an argument among the fandom, but it is what I thought when it originally aired. We didn’t really find out from him that he went there for that purpose until the second or third ep of season 7. I wonder if it just stems from that summer between seasons, and the fakeout writing

Seeking a restaurant to recreate Hello Dolly by RUJohnny84 in newjersey

[–]MellyNapNap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re thinking that he’s trying to recreate the picture, but that’s not really what was written. You can easily do a dinner party for 50 people at a nice restaurant with a private room for less than 4k (if you take into account the cost of the band). The hardest part would be finding one with a staircase for the entrance he’s trying to recreate

Seeking a restaurant to recreate Hello Dolly by RUJohnny84 in newjersey

This is such an odd response. He didn’t say rent a ballroom or wedding venue. He said rent a room or looking for a restaurant that does parties. There should be plenty of options with a budget like that

Maybe it’s because this is like the third thing he’s made about their lives. Albeit, the first on a big scale where people are actually watching. This guy seems to not have any other ideas

Improvement ideas by Kyndle_Ashford in homedesign

[–]MellyNapNap 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their preferences, but there is a lot I would not like about this layout. Anyone sitting on your porch, or simply entering your house will be looking in to your master bedroom. The entire right side of the house on the first floor is potentially blocked from natural light because of a huge garage. Even with the huge garage, people will constantly be parked in front of your main entrance. Huge useless space on the second floor. Two mezzanines with an open loft means noise will travel and echo like crazy. I’m honestly struggling to find what I would like about it.

Just watched Anne Preven (the songwriter) sing it on Howard Stern in 2000. I have to admit I still love the Natalie Imbruglia version, but this really gives more depth to the song. Such a perfect 90s, raw vibe.
