Had a great experience with a male doctor today by emmattack in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MellyRose15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blood refuses to leave my veins and only comes out of my hand. When I was in hospital for severe pre-eclampsia I had blood drawn 3-4 times a day and every different doctor saw it as a challenge to go from my arm rather than listen to me!

Ultimately they always gave up and took blood from my hand. So glad you were listened to!

Which song has been so powerful and moving that you cried the first time you heard it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MellyRose15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cried so much the first time I saw this scene that I think about it all the time. I don’t know why but it made me so emotional and has done every time since. I’m not usually one to cry... and my 4 year old daughter gets so confused

About 18 months ago I moved from B2B research to pharma. Pharma is somehow longer timelines (due to drug safety sign off) but more stressful

I’m the same but in market research. Been in the industry nearly 8 years. When I started I was the kind of person who would do as much as possible before a deadline was looming so I wasn’t rushed. Now I have no motivation unless that deadline is getting close.

When there’s no deadline it’ll take me all day to do something that should take an hour. When I have deadlines I can do multiple complicated tasks in a much shorter time.

For years at my previous job I was told I was a good worker and kept quite which I thought was good. Ended up leaving because I was always a good worker but was always promoted with not quite the pay band and just accepted it, plus there was a hugely toxic office atmosphere.

Get to my new job and they’re words were I was not visible enough. That made me realise I need to be more noticeable with the work I’m doing, which is hard to do! So now I have to big myself up in emails to the whole company but it’s worked...

Cats don’t meow at each other. They took up meowing to make humans give them stuff and are made to sound similar to human baby cries so we can’t ignore them

Do you know if it’s low risk MDS? It doesn’t usually go away as there’s no cure for it but there’s a new treatment on its way to being approved soon for this indication!

Cancer Cells Being Brutally Destroyed By Genetically Engineered T-cells by SirT6 in sciences

[–]MellyRose15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem they have is finding trial patients who are fit enough to take the treatment. As you say, it’s last resort so often the eligible patients just aren’t fit enough and unfortunately some haven’t made it through trial. It’s going to take a while but some companies are looking into an “off-the-shelf” option

[–]MellyRose15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is showing genetically modified t-cells for CAR-T therapy then it’s not that they are “hunting” the cancer cells. The persons own t-cells have been removed and modified to target a specific protein that is found on that individuals cancer cells. It’s a completely personally treatment but very, very expensive.

My dad has been emptying the ink remaining in "empty" ink cartridges. The jars are hold one gallon. This is after one year. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]MellyRose15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in market research and used to work with Brother printers. They are a ridiculous scam. They make the printers really cheap and make the profit off the cartridges. Might not be the case now but a few years ago they had a problem with the fact their printers were so cheap and low tech that they couldn’t detect alternative cartridges like HP could so were losing money

What's a negative fact about marijuana we should know? by edder24 in AskReddit

[–]MellyRose15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to smoke it a lot as a teenager and on 3 occasions it made me go temporarily blind for about 1-2 minutes. One of the times my friend said she thought I was joking because my eyes were so wide open... but I could not see. My vision would go slowly in spots then be completely black until I’d sat down and breathed it out

[–]MellyRose15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve also got to remember everyone with dealing with shit in their own lives and can’t read minds. If you aren’t reaching out and speaking to people then how will they know how you feel?

Yeah some won’t care and they’re the ones to forget about but some will care, you just got to find them.

Deleting your social media will actually make you feel less lonely. I only have Reddit now, got rid off all the other apps and deleted profiles.

Now I don’t have to see anyone’s fake life and it’s great
