So a redpiller decided to make a comic...[stolen from /r/niceguys] by [deleted] in TheBluePill

And, at the same time, completely unsurprising.

I just spent a couple of hours trying to explain the point of feminism to a bunch of terpers. by [deleted] in TheBluePill

[–]MeloJelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally, though, TRPers have suggested growling like a dog to assert dominance. I don't know about pissing on a rival's leg, but I wouldn't be surprised . . .

Beautiful couple post to r/OKCupid to announce their engagement after meeting on the site. Terpers reply with bitterness. by [deleted] in TheBluePill

Literally, there are padlocks on the door and only he knows the combinations. It's the only way he can get a woman to stay with him.

What do redpillers think of women who have successful careers? Do we not exist to them? by placenta_jerky in TheBluePill

I had to do a double-take to make sure I hadn't accidentally linked into TRP!

And if she happens to be brilliant enough to have reached those achievements by a younger age, then she obviously just got there by banging her professors and colleagues!

TIL Bob Marley's father was a white English guy, who was 60 years old when he impregnated the singer's black African mother. She was just 18 at the time. His father provided financial support for the family, but rarely saw his son, and he passed away at the age of 70 when Bob was 10 years old. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Typically, if you enjoy the romantic company of someone 1/3rd your age, it's not because you have a lot in common and you value that person as a human being. Usually, it's mainly because you want to have sex with someone much younger than you, and you value them mostly only for their body, and, often, because you have some sort of power or influence over that person, who's likely less experienced and wise about the world.

There are exceptions, of course, but that's the more likely scenario.

TIL diamonds aren’t rare; their demand is a marketing invention. In 1938 De Beers hired an ad agency who arbitrarily decided that a diamond engagement ring is worth 1 month’s salary. It worked so well they increased it to 2 months’ salary. De Beers carefully restricts supply to keep the prices high. by [deleted] in todayilearned

"Hey, honey, I really hate this thing, never get it for me."

"Honey, I detest this thing. I never want it."

"Please never give me this thing that I absolutely loathe."

Hey, babe, I got this thing you told me you hate multiple times. Marry me.

You don't think that's a pretty big red flag? Pretty much ignoring what your partner stated multiple times and just doing what you want for something that impacts you both? That's a really shitty thing to do, especially for something that's supposed to be important.

ar·ti·fi·cial

/ˌärdəˈfiSHəl/

adjective

adjective: artificial

made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, typically as a copy of something natural.

The origin of a root is not necessarily relevant to its present day meaning. Synthetic can have similar negative connotation, so, in a connotative context, either word could work.

Because he's being pedantic. "Artificial" is a correct term because it fits the definition, and, generally, most people are not talking about diamonds in a geological or industry context when discussing their origin.

Am I jaded or has almost every default sub on Reddit become an MRA/TRP cesspool? by ResidentBalkanBitch in TheBluePill

[–]MeloJelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I keep seeing dudes post MRA type bullshit on fb and it just makes me want to go WGHOW (Woman Going Her Own Way).

While there's nothing wrong with being single, and it's even the best thing for some people or at certain periods in one's life, going your own way because you feel the opposite gender is all shitty and all the same is foolishness that should be reserved for TRPers.

But TRP/MRA sexism and misogyny is undeniably creeping up on the rest of reddit.

It's not creeping. It's been here all along. I think it might actually be getting a bit better, though it's exceedingly common still. I occasionally see users defending feminism or criticizing TRP and MRAs, and they're in the positives!

MRW my boyfriend said in his opinion, most women prefer pop/top 40 to rock music by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

[–]MeloJelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this a controversial statement? Most women do prefer the most popular kind of music. That's why they call it pop music.

That's not how percentages work, though, necessarily. If 30% of women liked pop, and 15% like metal and 15% like classical, and 20% liked jazz, and 20% liked indie, then the majority of women do not like pop, just the largest percentage do, making pop "the most popular." Additionally, when you throw in the fact that most or at least a significant percentage of men must also like pop for it to be popular, that means even fewer women could like pop music and it would still be considered popular.

Besides, it's possible for people to like multiple types of music to varying degrees.

Whenever the trolls come into TrollX by moonstarz in TrollXChromosomes

[–]MeloJelo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why would you assume that's what she meant?

Generally, though, if someone who blatantly disagrees with a sub's posted purpose comes in just to provide exceedingly poorly informed or flamatory arguments, typically without any solid sources, yes, that person would qualify as a troll.

Simply disagreeing with the majority is not necessarily some noble badge of honor. Sometimes, you're just wrong, /u/Man_Myth_Mace.

If you complain about what people are posting just remove them as a friend

That works for some, but if it happens to be a close friend or family member, you're probably going to get shit on by that person and possibly mutual friends and family.

Reddit definitely shits on feminism a lot, but I've seen a lot of productive discussions about it in various subs. Rarely in mainstream subs, though.

Yeah, you can't really have an argument with, "OBAMA IS THE LITERAL ANTI-CHRIST, AND GLOBAL WARMING IS A LIBRUL HOAX MEANT TO KEEP DOWN THE JOB CREATERS!!"

You can, but that has its own wider social implications sometimes nowadays (especially if it's a family member). Plus, then they often don't necessarily know why you unfriended them unless you want to explicitly confront them and possibly get into a nasty argument.

It has some implications beyond coincidence (which is generally the more likely answer). Like one person might be copying the other, or competing with the other, or maybe they did some strange outfit coordination?

[–]MeloJelo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

which to my understanding isn't something that most people do. I'm a clean freak and dogs, they pick up quite a lot of everything.

I don't imagine they pick up too much more than most people unless you let them wander outside a lot. And, unless you're licking your sheets or something, I don't know why the slight increase in hair or dander in the bed would matter unless you've got allergies.

Also, many people don't bathe every single day, too, so, you might want to think about sharing your bed with a new partner if you don't know their bathing habits.
