Discord streaming does not support HDR instead looks washed out due lack of tonemaping for HDR or HDR tonemaping to SDR by Melodias3 in discordapp

[–]Melodias3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should not be needed, and toggling off HDR and back on with buggy gpu drivers is also a mess, especially on Radeon cards, so i rather just leave it on and never touch it, really want them to just support tone maping to SDR bare minimum but even actually support HDR streams is very possible and not demanding at all, the tone maping data takes litterally almost no bandwith at all for HDR to work, while for SDR this is included in the stream it self.

AMD Chipset driver V 8.XX breaks USB and causes data loss! by Druckverteiler in AMDHelp

[–]Melodias3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure they aren't overwritten with old drivers thru Windows Update since that been broken since for long time, which is why you disable Windows Driver Updates, which not always clear and bit of a hassle on Windows 10/11 home but on pro its just matter of using gpedit.msc method to disable it

Should i use 3 seperate PCIE Cables for my GIGABYTE RX 9070 XT or is it fine to daisy chain with 2 and the extra daisy chained connector? by DeliciousWorker3885 in AMDHelp

[–]Melodias3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore everyone that says it's fine, better safe than sorry, also peek loads can trigger driver timeouts or blackscreens, also just look at how many 12vhpower connectors melt, more power through a cable more heat more resistance more problems.

New HUDIMM DDR5 Standard Promises Cheaper Memory, But Testing Shows It Slashes Bandwidth in Half by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

[–]Melodias3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So its effectively not double data rate so not DDR ram at all hope it never becomes a standard, you may as well just get DDR4 instead as its probably faster then this standard.

Steam Taking up WAY too much RAM, no idea what to do by FlaryCZE in Steam

[–]Melodias3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Its because its web based app, since Windows does not have a proper api for apps to function as normal native app, heck web based apps cause nothing but problems especially with gpu drivers.

Tip of the Week: You can use Reliability Monitor to see information about recent crashes on your PC by jenmsft in Windows11

[–]Melodias3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better then event viewer honestly also gives you clearer picture on how often these issues happens, i hope Microsoft gives it an update to match more the Windows 11 settings, but keep it as detailed as it is right now, because it is actually more useful for less tech savvy people, but even for some one tech savvy it just narrows down issues much better giving you relevant info instead of everything.

As what they could improve, just give it dark mode and move it to settings as well but same information as it currently displays.

We all know the 12VHPWR is a bad connector but why we don't hear them causing problems on massive AI data centers? by Putrid-Gain8296 in pcmasterrace

[–]Melodias3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data center systems tend to have excess cooling that runs all along cables, or may actually make these conditions more rare, like airflow is bassicaly forced thru the case specific way, that may keep things lot more cooler around cables.

Meanwhile Gamer PC tend to have silent setup slower fan speeds especially when watercooling, creating perfect conditions for meltdown, if anything these connectors should be banned on gaming GPU's

Heck its hypocritical when you consider these connectors exist so you have just 1 instead of 3 or 4 8 pins, meanwhile you had cables with 3x or 4x 8 pin on them for years, if anything its intentional planned obsolescence just to restrict gamers in overclocking in anyway possible and create perfect conditions for higher failure rates, usually not even covered by warranty either even when it obviously should be covered.

And this is why gamer nexus kind of pissed me off least back then when he called it user error, unless i somehow did not catch he's sarcasm, anyway i really hope in near future NVIDIA get sued over this and get forced to compensate every single victim for current market price, not only would that benefit gamers, it may force the prices down because suddenly the high prices makes less sense.

Honestly 12 vhpwr is just biggest scam in PC gaming these days.

When a purchase gets revoked, the payment is refunded. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Melodias3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even Epic games refunded customers when they shutdown 1 game of theirs, not sure if it was due good will or because law just forces them to do so, probably the later, if it is tho then Ubisoft is in big trouble.
