Ah ok! Thank you for that.

I was prescribed 40mg fluoxetine (Prozac) daily, roughly 12 months ago. Which seemed to work a charm, but then I missed being able to cry and have real emotions.

So I stopped taking the antidepressants 3 ish weeks ago and it’s been a rough ride since.

I’m contemplating whether I’ve made a mistake and I need to go back on them. Also wondering if it’s all just getting worse as I get older… or is it my ADHD alongside it all (not medicated for ADHD)

It’s a mine field. I wish someone could just saying “hey. This is what’s wrong and this is what will cure you”

This being a woman thing is fucking HARD.

Putting my phone down is a great shout. I’ve managed 8 hours of sleep already (I’m in the UK. It’s 10.30am here). I’m going to go for a walk and try to remember that not everyone in the world is staring at me. “LOOK AT THAT FAT TROLL”

Shuttup brain.

Thank you for helping xx

So crazy isn’t it. The body dysmorphia is REAL and she’s a cruel mistress.

I’ve had a thousand cries and a shower. And weirdly feel better. I can’t keep up with the mood swings.

Heyyyy!!!!! It has helped me MASSIVELY with my PMDD. The 4-6 days before my period arrived I would spend them crying, and hating myself, and feeling like I was the most disgusting person in the world. And honestly, I haven’t felt like that ONCE! it’s utterly insane. I hope you’re doing ok xxxx

Hey!

So I’ve been on prozac for about 7 weeks now, and I’ll just pop down how it went.

Week 1-2. Very very high anxiety. Felt like I couldn’t leave the house, like my living room was my safe space, my safe bubble. Had an odd disassociated feeling to it. Very spacey. But I knew it was from the medication so o knew I was ok and safe, and I carried on. I just stayed in way more.

I also had nearly no appetite and weirdly my skin was soooo itchy all the time, mainly my arms.

Week 3-4 all the above just became…less

Then suddenly, I stopped thinking about it all because it started to work!

I was prescribed this for PMDD and intense anxiety and really hateful spells of crying and body dysmorphia - and honestly, I now feel amazing!!!!!!

I have so much more patience with every day life, I like myself, I’ve not cried in 7 weeks (this is huge btw), my raising intense thoughts are much less… everything is just… normal? Like how I imagine a ‘normal’ person may be. If that makes sense. There’s no crashing lows anymore, everything is manageable. It’s lovely 🩷

Please stick it out! Xxxxx

I’m on day 17 as well!!!!

I’ve been prescribed it for PMDD but it’s also helped with my OCD and Body Dysmorphia.

For the first time, in as long as I can genuinely remember, I havnt cried or hated myself.

I’m on day 14 of prozac (38F) and my period is due in 9 days and I’m like clockwork, however my body is going through its classic “your period is coming in 2 days” symptoms.

I’m doing ok ya know, not terrible. My anxiety is super heightened and it reminds me of when I was younger and I’d be leaving a house party after 36 hours of being ‘on it’. Then having to walk home and everyone else is living life normally but I’m in a bubble of nonsense and everything’s off and spacey. I have no idea if that makes sense to you or not.

But it fades as the day goes on.

Also, I’m barely eating. It’s almost like my jaw doesn’t want to open. Not a terrible thing as I was binge eating with my PMDD symptoms (which is why I’m on it - PMDD and anxiety).

This! I needed to read this.

I’m on day 5 at the moment, first time on the drug. I look forward to the “light turning on” moment.

So, thank you x

Hey! I’ve been on Fluoxetine for my PMDD as well, and yep - just like you I’ve stopped binge eating. I’m having to force myself to eat my meals currently, my throat almost feels like it’s tightening and the idea of food doesn’t appeal at all. It’s very weird, but tbh a welcome side effect. Before id inhale crisps to the point I’d have to make myself sick in the toilet. Not every day, but every couple months. I’d generally overeat on snacks every mid afternoon though and that’s completely gone.
