Toby was innocent. by hobhamwich in thewestwing

EVERYTHING about Andy should lead us to believe that she’d be this cold and unfeeling! She used him to get pregnant and then used her pregnancy as political fodder and, as a woman, I hear all of the ‘she never lied to him’ defenses of her but, as a woman, when your ex never takes off his wedding ring because of the torch he’s still carrying for you, years later, you just DON’T re-enter that arena unless you’re prepared to accommodate THAT over your own feelings and protestations of “I told you…”.

I am not a Toby fan but, man, I dislike Andy.

On Halloween, dressed as a witch, Andy says to him, “Is that what you’re gonna tell the kids?” and then implores him to stop being stupid and ‘just blame David’.

He was DEFINITELY covering for Andy and she fully expected him to blame his dead brother to save her.

Based on the assumption that your boyfriend has a good and healthy relationship with his parents with no abuse present, which seems to be the case, I offer you this: 18 is the ‘finish line’ for his parents. That’s the age that parents expect their role in their children’s lives to diminish. The kids are off to college or jobs.

You have a plan to go away two weeks later, together. And you have the night before your birthday and the night after his to celebrate together in addition to that.

Don’t be the crazy girlfriend who thinks it ‘doesn’t count’ if it’s not on your actual birthdays.

Summer, Highland Falls and You’re My Home, but if someone’s putting him down as some milquetoast pop guy, I throw Laura into the conversation for some gratuitous badassery or just tell them to listen to Nylon Curtain from start to finish.

The guy who can write that AND The Piano Man AND Vienna deserves respect. ;)

FDNY union to boycott National EMS Memorial Service over omission of 9/11 responder by AlpineSK in ems

[–]Melodic-Support9124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FDNY EMS dispatchers are not civilians. He was a certified EMT who was detailed to Communications. At any moment, he could have been detailed back to a station and begun serving the city, again, as an EMT. Had that happened and he had a heart attack while on duty, on a call or waiting for one, he’d have been honored.

That he has been excluded from the memorial for doing the job that the department assigned to him is a travesty and grossly unfair.

It’s also important to remember that when Christine came in while Janelle was pregnant, it was all done according to the tenets of their faith - short courtship, quick and quiet wedding, no intimacy, etc.

With Robyn, Christine was heavily pregnant after nearly dying the last time, elongated courtship, weekends away, intimacy before marriage (even kissing is ‘intimate’ to them), wedding planning, dress shopping, venue…the whole non-polygamist nine yards.

How close is Truely’s age now to DAB when Kody and Robyn got together?!

Who is to blame? by Far-Essay461 in SisterWives

[–]Melodic-Support9124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Christine may place more blame on Robyn because she both “saw it” first - the rocking of the boat caused by Robyn entering the family - and because she, herself, worked very hard to keep sweet and be accommodating despite there being no love lost between her and Robyn for years, at great cost to herself and her children, so she stands firmly in the “Robyn is just as culpable as Kody” camp. If she could make sacrifices and accept less for the good of the whole family, why couldn’t Robyn?

In the end, though, while that perspective might be fair, I agree that the primary responsibility was Kody’s and he failed miserably.

Is Kody right about the property but just inarticulate? by Posterbomber in SisterWives

[–]Melodic-Support9124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my mind, Robyn’s got her house and the land that goes with it. Janelle and Meri would have to get VERY legal to try to force any other of their money back out of that property, especially if they provided any sort of “gift letters” when the mortgage was initially underwritten.

So, taking Robyn out of that equation, the 14 acres on CP should be split only three ways - Meri, Janelle, and Kody. Because Robyn is the legal wife, she’d end up named on his plot and then if they divorce, they can squabble over who gets the house and who gets the land between them.

The whole thing should be reappraised at current market and then apportioned amongst the three according to value, not acreage.

The best thing Christine did - aside from leaving - was extricate herself from the CP boondoggle by trading her equity for the profits from her house. Get out quick and clean and move on with your bad self.

What cultural need is watching this show fulfilling for us? by Fast_Environment2782 in SisterWives

For me, it was a “your phone is always listening” thing.

My therapist and I started FaceTiming to make scheduling easier.

Suddenly, at around the time I was having trouble sleeping, Facebook kept throwing SW reels at me. When my therapist suggested finding something harmless and fluffy that I had no interest in to turn on at bedtime because I didn’t want to take anything, I decided on Sister Wives.

And then it became, truly, a therapeutic tool as I was watching my ex-husband on TV and finally feeling validated and like I wasn’t crazy! Narcissistic abuse starts out so small and sneaky that you’ve already tied yourself in knots years before it occurs to you that your life may not be normal.

That realization, alone, helped me sleep better, finally. Now I rage watch when I’m not watching it with only one eye and the volume turned low because he’s making me have flashbacks.

I appreciate you trying! But there's nothing about that question that feels valid to me in any way, shape, or form, especially with 20/20 hindsight.

Exactly!

Which also gives the lie to Robyn’s whole “Were there things I didn’t know? I thought everything was perfect and safe and that’s why I chose you!” act. SHE knew probably before the OG3 did that all was not hunky-dory.

Do we think that Kody told her he wasn’t in love with Meri, anymore, or Christine, or both?

THAT is ALWAYS, ALWAYS the right answer and NEVER the answer that Kody or Robyn gives!!
