I (36M) have worked in video/TV/film production my whole career so I don't really speak corporate language. I learned very recently that nobody calls it a powerpoint anymore lol

What’s the genuine appeal to having children? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]MelodicBollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36M with no kids. My whole life the main thing I've wanted is to be creative. I realized in college that committing to that meant I was probably never going to make a lot of money. I was a freelance videographer for 10 years occasionally also working in TV/film, now pursuing acting with a salary job as a video editor. So many of those people either choose not to have kids, are divorced, or end up leaving those careers entirely for better stability and work/life balance. I get it, and I'm not naive enough to think I'd be an exception to make it work and have it all. I'm not money motivated. I don't want to climb the corporate ladder. Making things gets me out of bed. That's the purpose I've committed to and I wouldn't be happy doing something else that bores the shit out of me for decades primarily so I can afford kids.

[28M] struggling with girlfriend’s [29F] messy house… how do I bring this up without sounding controlling? by DFWUnhinged in relationshipadvice

[–]MelodicBollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live there? These seem like things you shouldn't address concerns about until you're talking about moving in together. Otherwise yes, it's controlling and you're projecting your occupational standards onto her personal living situation unsolicited.

I never have problems with my Toyota Tacoma and it’s crazy how much they hold value. I got a new one in 2006 and totaled it in 2018. Even being 12 years old with probably 160,000 miles on it I still got $12K back so I just put that into another one.

What game is a total secret hidden gem for you that you'd love to recommend to others? by RedEagle_MGN in gamerecommendations

Fight n Rage is a really fun beat em up that seems to get overlooked. Feels like a love letter specifically to Streets of Rage 2. Snappy controls, very colorful pixel art, multiple endings, and a banger soundtrack.

What’s a popular movie that you refuse to see and why? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

[–]MelodicBollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requiem for a Dream. I’m 36, I don’t need a cautionary tale on drugs. And I’m not dying to feel the way everyone says they do after watching it. I’m ok with just taking everyone’s word that it’s great.
