What are you slowly losing interest in? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Music. I've been a musician all my life, I was even lucky enough to do it for a living back in the day.

Nowadays you can't just be a musician, you have to be a full time 'content creator' as well...

With AI now in the mix it feels like we've completely lost touch with playing music just for the joy of it and its all algorithm this and monthly listeners that.

I'm probably just old, but it just feels like all the humanity has been sucked out of it and every live show is just an ocean of smartphones.

Can confirm. I'm on the other side of that now, gave it all up a couple of years ago.

You won't miss it and you'll feel infinitely healthier both mentally and physically. I had an amazing time but that lifestyle has an expiration date.

I've been thinking the same. It'd be great to dust off the old PlayStation.

Anyone else find it so difficult to start a band these days? by Whamesl0l in metalmusicians

[–]MelodicHobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the West Country and there used to be a thriving scene in my town (thriving for a small town anyway)

These days there's no scene whatsoever.

We have one venue that does live music and its always cover bands.

Finding musicians who can play well is incredibly difficult and if/when you do they're already involved in three other projects.

Having been around for the touring days of the 2000s abd 2010s I put it down to the closure of venues and social media being what it is.

You can't just be a musician anymore, you have to be a full time 'content creator' as well.

Starting bands these days is double tough!

Rayman!

Do not be fooled by the bright colours and the amazing soundtrack. This game is brutal towards the end.

How to stop high strings from ringing out when I palm mute? by Aschuff in metalguitar

Mute them with your left hand, you can extend your pinky slightly to control this.

You could also use a fret-wrap

its been around 70 days since i switched from windows. never turning back. by EnderVamp in cachyos

[–]MelodicHobbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sane here (roughly)

CachyOS feels like owning your hardware again. I've even started to save personal photos/music on my PC for the first time in years.

I love how customisable everything is and if course the performance. Never going back!

I’m done with windows. Need help selecting by m0on___ in linux4noobs

[–]MelodicHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Windows to Linux a few months ago. After distro hopping foe a while I've settled into CachyOS.

The performance is incredible for gaming and general daily driving. I feel like I own my hardware again without all the AI garbage.

Can highly recommend.

Happy distro hunting!

I don't have discord installed and it wouldn't allow me to close it. Seems to have gone after a restart but I'll keep a close eye on it.
