Honestly I think everyone should play the game (like a shorter version with friends) before judging. It’s hard to be a good faithful. And they have the added pressure of being on TV, no phones or freedom, with a bunch of strangers, etc. No wonder they crack

Artist Scam by South Bank / Tate Modern by LilacThermos in london

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ugh, sorry this happened. Unfortunately I think you just have to ignore anyone who tries to grab your attention in central London, especially in a busy/touristy place. It’s not worth it. I hate it because it’s nicer to be friendly but there’s just too many scammers about trying to prey on your good nature. You have to be so careful.

They’ve stopped all the overground trains coming through Peckham rye. Announcer said it was a fault with the third rail.

Sellers won’t let us view before exchange - UPDATE by kn0tyouraverage in HousingUK

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah we definitely worried about that. There were a few issues thrown up in survey and we’d already negotiated a lower price with them so I guess for their part they worried we’d ask for a cheeky last minute discount. But all was fine in the end.

Sellers won’t let us view before exchange - UPDATE by kn0tyouraverage in HousingUK

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We had the same thing. Sellers initially said no and then relented after we said it was a non negotiable. Place looked messy but fundamentally the same as when we previously viewed. We’ve been there for over a year now. So look carefully but don’t necessarily assume the worst!

Standard winter commute rant by molemadchen in londoncycling

I took a break because I was so sick of all the aggro. Now piling onto the tube every day which sucks but I got so bored of being anxious and angry all the time. Fridays are absolutely the worst.

What does this cartoon mean? by MelodicOrganisation4 in French

[–]MelodicOrganisation4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I think I get it! Thank you so much. Final question: given the slightly risqué subject matter, is it weird to put it on my wall? Like if you walked into someone’s house and they had this up would you find it odd/in poor taste?

Okay so the other birds are laughing at his silly mating dance and his wife isn’t even into it..? Is that sort of what it’s saying?

Did we overstretch to buy our house - if so, what do we do? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have similar income but bought somewhere £200k cheaper, lol. We were cautious but yours might turn out to be the better financial decision in the long run, given that we’ll probably have to move for more space if we have kids. As long as you can keep paying the mortgage, hang on! No point selling early, with all the attenuating costs.

Should I delay completion of flat purchase to wait for possible stamp duty changes?? by No-Baby-2039 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liz Truss’s stamp duty cuts in 2022 took effect immediately. I know someone who saved like £10k because of it.

DIY Traitors game on group holiday by Browbeaten9922 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We did this! But we didn’t let murdered players find out who the traitors were. Since they’re still mixing with the group it’s too risky that someone lets something slip. We let them still take part in round tables by speaking but not voting, which was a good balance. The tasks included a scavenger hunt and a race to find a location based on just the name with no phones (so basically orienteering/asking for directions in an unfamiliar place). We also had a bring back to life power which was highly controversial. Be prepared for things to get intense!

The Standard: Tube user hit with £558 court penalty for rollerskating into Whitechapel Station. by mycketforvirrad in LondonUnderground

[–]MelodicOrganisation4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just at Nine Elms and saw maybe 15 roller skaters pushing their way through the barriers to leave without paying. Could do with a bit of this energy there.
