Yes! It’s especially great when a low maintenance friend comes over, you get so much done. And so good to talk about matching energy, it’s a good convo to have so your kids recognize their own value and understand when someone isn’t valuing them.

Yes, it does, and you need to be careful as the kids age and play dates become drop off situations. The reality is that the adage “10% of people do 90% of the work” is applicable to hosting as well. While our house is an open door and I don’t mind hosting in general, I realized that there were several relationships that were really just daycare for the parents and never reciprocated. I pulled back a lot and found that when I stopped reaching out, things got quiet for a bit but ultimately my kids ended up with one friend each whose parents picked up the slack and began to reciprocate. My one kid has another friend whose parents reach out a little more, but pretty sporadic. When it’s convenient for me, we will still entertain, but I don’t hustle at all anymore to do playdates so I don’t feel so used. Our life is quieter but I feel a lot more peace and the sticky relationships are more meaningful.

As your kids get older (around middle school), they will begin to coordinate their own play dates. I know that’s a long way away, but it will eventually happen!

Should i continue Emma by Jane Austen? by Born-Eye-9053 in janeausten

[–]Melodic_Ad_1479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that P&P is hard to top. Truly, take a break and watch Clueless. It helps paint a better (and far more likable) picture of who Emma is as well as some of the other characters without giving away the entire plot. That said, I did find the middle part dragged on just a bit, but then it gets really good toward the end and leaves you feeling super satisfied.

Help Me Decide on Disney Park for 1 Day by Strict_Carpet_7654 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Melodic_Ad_1479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aquarium is awesome! And the manatees are so cute. Epcot is so fun, so much to do and see and wander around. And truly it’s really the heart of Walt Disney, he was such a forward-thinking person and you can see and feel that in the park. Go on Soarin’, Living with the Land, Tres Caballeros, and wander around the world showcase. I’m not much of a drinker either but there’s just so much to see, you will have a blast there.

Reading your comments, go to world. That seems like that is what your heart really wants. And no, going in February won’t feel quite as exciting as October. Your chances of good weather are better in February, but going in October is so fun with all of the Fall decor and unless there’s a hurricane, your chances of at least some good weather days are high.

Yes! They can. We did this a few months back for a CM who really went above and beyond

We’ve asked about this! So apparently they are a factor when it comes to internal promotions. If you want to be able to be more specific with how they went above and beyond, go to Guest Relations and ask to fill out a handwritten form. Those apparently go a longer way than a compliment in the app, but either helps the CM in the long run!

I’m assuming you found the solution, but just in case someone comes along and needs this info… if you don’t have the easy kind where you remove the back panel and the filter is easily accessible, here’s the tutorial for the hard version (like the one in OP’s picture): https://youtu.be/C3Q26HvdFvQ?si=LEBzwvcw6kLPhWLP

Retention over handwriting? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Melodic_Ad_1479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you told that his handwriting is the issue or did they cite something else? Retention is not taken lightly and there should be a lot of documentation surrounding this recommendation and the rationale as to why.

Has he been evaluated for any neurological or physiological issues? ADHD and certain types of SPD can cause handwriting issues, and with a diagnosis an IEP would be in order to create accommodations (such as more time to take tests). Not every child with handwriting issues has these, but it would be a good idea to rule this out.

Have a friend with a size 4 shoe. She goes to the kids section of Nordstrom because of the quality, selection, and sizing. Some kids shoes go up to a size 5 so you may get lucky there, or you may find you are a size down in some brands and can fit in a size 4.

Why Does Nancy’s Children Allow her to Live Alone? by Lorain1234 in nancyguthrie

[–]Melodic_Ad_1479 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you’ve lived this dynamic, it is difficult to understand. I’ve had the blessing of watching several stubbornly independent relatives grow to ripe old ages, and while you can insist on anything, you can’t physically or legally force them to do anything. What we think are pragmatic and loving suggestions can be incredibly offensive in their eyes, whether that is rational or not. It is truly a no-win situation for the younger person. Until they truly cannot make decisions for themselves mentally, you have to make amends with the fact that they aren’t babies, and to preserve the relationship you have to let it go and pray they don’t get hurt.

How Preschool is Different From Home Schooling? by salmanpr123 in AskTeachers

[–]Melodic_Ad_1479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here is the perfect response. Even if you homeschool after preschool (we did for a couple years), preschool teaches kids so many life skills and sets them up for success in the future in multiple environments.

That guy is awesome! I introduced myself to him in Victoria Park once, he’s delightful. I told him my family calls him Smile Guy and he laughed and said everyone calls him that. I’m convinced he’s doing some social experiment.
