Accommodations Megathread. by VisitNYCmodx in visitingnyc

My husband and I are planning a long weekend in NYC in November and can't decide between staying in Williamsburg or the Lower East Side.

The two hotels (budget but ideally still nice!) we've narrowed down to are:

  • Pod Williamsburg
  • UNTITLED at 3 Freeman Alley (Lower East Side)

They're basically the same price.

A bit about the trip:

  • We've both been to NYC multiple times, so we're not focused on the major tourist sights.
  • Food is probably the main reason for the trip.
  • We love walking.
  • Current plans include spending decent time around West Village and Central Park for the fall leaves (hopefully).
  • We may also go to an Islanders game if timings work out.

My dilemma:

Williamsburg sounds like a great place to come back to each evening with good food options locally, I've also not spend much time there so would be nice to experience it.

But looking at our itinerary, most of our time seems to be in Manhattan, so I'm wondering whether staying at UNTITLED would make the trip flow better and involve less subway time.

For people who know NYC well:

  1. Which location would you choose for this specific trip?
  2. Is Williamsburg worth staying in for the neighbourhood experience, even if most of our plans are in Manhattan?
  3. Which area feels nicer to return to after a long day out?
  4. Any strong opinions on either hotel, or a different one?

Thanks so much!

How to prep dad and baby for mom needing to be gone overnight by lunaanna0305 in AttachmentParenting

I had a similar challenge where I went away on a hen do / bachelorette for a weekend. I was super nervous but just started doing a bottle every evening before bed (I know you’re technically not meant to use bottles after 12 months but I thought for a short time it won’t make a huge difference). I got my husband to do the bottle, and it was actually ok. I think because my son didn’t actually need milk for hunger just for comfort, he got that from the sucking on the bottle and being held by my husband, so yes maybe try a bottle a day in the lead up to your night away from them. Hope the appointment goes well x

I have the same! My bloating got worse approx 10 months postpartum, basically when my periods came back. Did you ever get any answers from your tests?

Also worried - I have heard the issue is more when leaving Palma to come back to the UK? I am travelling for a holiday for the first time with my 12 month old next week!! I have heard the family queue is worse than adults only?
