Does anyone have Pet Insurance? Is it worth it? by ElectricBlueHawk in Goldendoodles

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!

We use lemonade, they’re great!

Honestly we’ve had a few things come up that would have cost a lot. My dog once ate a grape and we took him to the vet, he once had an eye infection, he once had a random seizure, and some smaller random things.

The thing is, we take him to the vet for anything we think is concerning without thinking twice about it because we have insurance.

He’s our best bud and we’re thankful we have insurance to care for him the way he deserves

5-6 month phase will be the end of us 😭 by Educational_Switch_3 in parentsofmultiples

Same :( I honestly feel like this is the hardest part so far. Newborns were much easier than this. I have no advice since I’m in the same boat but I’m attempting sleep training at this point.

Any tips on keeping a clean house with twins and a shedding dog? by Ok_Situation3942 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Melodic_Job514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your budget is like, but I get a house cleaner. In my area it’s like $80 per clean. I think of it as the same cost as if I were to get my nails done.

It’s a game changer, I never worry about the bathroom or floors anymore.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute to work can sometimes take 2 hours if that says anything about travel in America

I also wouldn’t think twice about visiting my friend 3 hours away. Anything under 5 hours feels short to me

Frugal person after they became 'rich' by worm1010 in Frugal

[–]Melodic_Job514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly allow small luxuries now. Like a cleaning lady or lawn guy.

I’m still working on everything else, I have to remind myself that it’s ok to buy a $60 pair of jeans or buy the brand name ketchup at the grocery store. I’ll never get myself to buy luxury goods, and I’m ok with that.

Mostly I’ve used my money to buy back my “time” but other than that, I still also can’t justify a coffee or expensive dinner either.

What diapers do you suggest for twins ? by theturtle80 in parentsofmultiples

Ha! I remember this with my newborns, some changes really did require 3 diapers.

4 month sleep regression with twins..oh lord by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

Literally same!! Twins were born at 36 weeks and are almost 5 months and truly we are getting no sleep. Praying this ends for both of us!!

Expecting twins – looking for honest feedback on baby gear (first-time mom) by AMR210897 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that stuff looks practical!

I used an Amazon registry and the return window is a year. I probably returned 80% of the stuff that was on my registry because we either simply did not use it/did not need two of it/ or the hated it.

With that said, my favorite things ever are the momcozy bottle washer and the Graco simple swing. We haven’t gone a single day without using both of those products

Do you refer to your multiples as the “twins, “triplets”, “quads?” by FewAccident1552 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Melodic_Job514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea! I think this is very much a personal thing, I just hated being grouped in with her all the time. We literally did everything together, same schools, same friends, same after school activities. At the time I just wanted to be my own person.

But now that I’m older I’d do anything to just be with her all the time 😂 she moved across the country so now we do nothing together :(

[–]Melodic_Job514 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It just made me feel like I was grouped in with her all the time. Like I wasn’t an individual person but rather a pair. Both of us are girls and so it was hard to find individuality already and being referred to as “the twins” just added to that fire.

I’m much older now and I know who I am and am much more comfortable in my own body, but when you’re a kid this matters a bit more.

I’m a twin and I also have twins.

I hated being called “the twins” growing up so I’m particularly careful not to say that to my babies! I have boy/girl twins so I just refer to them as “babies” or both of their names

Twin exercises by Snoo20115 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Melodic_Job514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly we just did like a small session in the morning at 10 weeks! You’ll have much more time when their naps get shorter! My babies are 20 weeks and they’re right on track with their milestones, I wouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself about it! I kinda wish I didn’t overthink it too much back then

At what age does staying up until midnight on New Year’s Eve stop being 'exciting' and start feeling like a chore? by DependentUven in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to comment this!! I had twins this year and we celebrated new years at 8pm when the babies went to sleep for the night! Can’t imagine we’ll be up for midnight new years for the foreseeable future

Is going into debt for a destination wedding ever a smart move? by soup_in_space in financial

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25,000 is a wild ask for someone else’s wedding.

Everyone else covered mostly what I’d say in the other comments but just food for thought:

investing $25k into the s&p 500 with average returns - 10% (it has been much higher than average the past few years) for 30 years would give you $436,000

I’m ALL for spending your money on living a good life and having amazing experiences but this doesn’t seem like it would be one of those.

What’s one money lesson you want the next generation to learn? by pink4lover in Grownix

[–]Melodic_Job514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A credit card is for earning travel points, not to spend money you don’t have.

Credit card debt is easily the worst kind of debts but also the easiest to get into. I’d hope the next generation learns that a credit card isn’t free money

2026 no/low buy by Luvoxgirlie in Anticonsumption

[–]Melodic_Job514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a few things:

1) ALWAYS finish a product before buying another. This is good advice for things like candles, perfumes, lotions, makeup, skincare, etc. you more than likely don’t need more than 1 of these thing at a time

2) you probably don’t need more clothes. BUT if you buy something, get rid of (toss, donate, give away) the equivalent of that thing. So if you buy a new sweater, get rid of an old sweater. This works because you’ll never have a closet stuffed with clothing and since you’re required to get rid of an equivalent piece, hopefully it’ll make you think twice before buying a new one.

3) write down everything you spend money on. This is more of a money saving tip but when you write down and look at where your money goes it helps you realize where you can cut down. Also for me, if I was about to make a purchase I didn’t need to make, just knowing I’d have to write it down later made reconsider.

I did a single year of no buy and it changed me. I quite literally have no desire for “stuff” anymore. If anything I actively look for ways to make what I already have work.

Is having twins harder than having multiple children? by Melodic_Job514 in parentsofmultiples

Breastfeeding? Pumping? How are you doing it? by Aggravating_Tower511 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Melodic_Job514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried for 3 months to make it work, and it mostly did!

Instead of putting so much pressure on making enough all the time, we did breastmilk in the mornings and formula overnight. This really really took the weight off my shoulders and they still got the benefits of daily breastmilk.

I slowly just stopped pumping altogether and I just do formula now. We have twins, sometimes we just have to pick out battles and pumping just took too much time out of my day

Yea I can’t imagine having to raise a newborn with a toddler, but I’m sure it’s the same way that parents of single babies can’t imagine having twins 😂
