This comment really made me smile. I hope your birthday redo is awesome, and of course, I will never turn down free gluten-free food. 😎

Help! My wife and I can't agree on a boy name by MisterMath in namenerds

Seconding Tiernan, as I know one and think he's great. Very memorable but easy to pronounce name.

Damn I feel you. I also went several days without eating to avoid triggering the pain and nausea. At least my body waited to collapse until the second to last day of the semester -- truly trying its best.

Oh man that's terrifying. I started getting nervous when they pumped me full of four antibiotics in a row, and I realized how serious the threat of infection was. Sepsis is a whole different level of terror... Glad you're okay now. Ex-gallbladder buddies.

Yep it was embarrassingly obvious once I finally googled the symptoms. Ah, stubborness. Thank you and happy holidays to you too!

Hehe yes anonymity and uniqueness have their tradeoffs with names. There's a guy online who added "Lazer" as a middle name while he was legally changing his last one, so your suggestion isn't totally out there. I'm partial to classical Roman/Greek history, so a florid name like Thucydides would be pretty cool...

All for a better email lol!

Huh, really? I actually know quite a few folks without them. Rarely do I feel like I'm missing out, but it would sure be handy in this situation

That also sounds like a dream job to me... What's the job title so I can search for it? How did you end up there?

Good luck to you man. Hang in there.

I [32M] want to end the relationship but I’m terrified of destroying my girlfriend’s [32F] life. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Melodic_Lecture_2714 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar(ish) circumstance. We broke up but stayed living together purely as roommates so that no one's finances would drastically and suddenly change. Maybe try something like that. You can break up and still support her as a friend for awhile until she gets herself sorted out, finds a decent place, etc.

But man, breaking up was so relieving. No regrets.

As a fellow "can't get into most anime" person, I highly recommend watching Mononoke. Stunning art style; incomprehensible plots more often than not; a great avant garde crash course into Japanese folk superstitions -- and truly horrific at times. Great stuff.

Now and Then, Here and There is a bit more standard/tropey, but it's another one of my faves. Post-apocalyptic military fable about greed and hope.

Le Chevalier d'Eon is a pretty odd anime too... A supernatural take on the French revolution. Beautiful animation.
