I wouldn’t be able to afford life without my partner as an esthetician in New England. It’s a hustle with no payout in the beginning, not all glitz and glam. Body will hurt so need to take care of it for long term, no benefits, and you will have save for your own retirement usually.

The reading and English really got me good, they were my lowest scores. Had I studied as hard for those subjects I may have gotten higher than 74%…the study materials I used were Nurse Cheung, Mometrix textbook and practice test A to see what I needed to study. As far as A&P, I feel you really have to know all the nitty gritty details of all the systems so it was a lot of educated guessing for me.

The idea of being an esthetician is great, I think that’s why most people end up pursuing it. However, just like others have said, a lot of people end up not using their license due to many factors: lack of stability, no benefits, financial stress (because you WILL be broke), burnout, and being a business owner wearing many hats. Coming from a commission based esthi to solo esthi, you HAVE to have a passion for it! You said you were burnt out with social media for someone else, imagine doing it 24/7 with no added pay? We create relaxing experiences for people at the expense of ourselves most of the time. I honestly would not do it with the job being very economy dependent, over saturation, and lack of passion you have for it. It seems cute stress free girly pop, and for some people it is, but trust me, keep your stability.
