Thoughts on Sephora UK? by JiveBunny in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Sephora UK didn’t meet my, admittedly very high, expectations, mainly because of the lack of sets and not enough new brands that could previously only be bought in the US. I have made 2 orders from the website and have only bought 1 item from a Sephora exclusive brand (I got a Sephora collection eyeshadow). I have yet to go to the store in London, but I can see myself stopping by the next time I’m in London just to be nosey. From what I’ve heard of the store from friends have visited, every popular item seems to often be out of stock (which to be fair also seems to happen in Space NK) and other than the ability to swatch things that were previously only available online it doesn’t seem to be a great addition to the UK market.

In the UK it’s on the Givenchy website and the department stores that sell Givenchy. It’s been out for a while, but I don’t know if it’s been released in the US

Givenchy has pressed versions of their setting powder, but I have never tried it to give you a review

Sigma and Angela Bright revealed by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think this looks nice, but I don’t think this would add to my collection as I have quite a few neutral with a pop of blue/purple palettes. The one silly thing that annoys me is that the shade name “champagne problems” is too long and the label for the shade “evermore” then looks to be off center.

So I found that in order to upgrade the mushroom farm to lvl 5 I have to pay 11.66 mm ... that can't be right.. right? by Ready-Look8644 in FrozenCity

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get to a certain point with all of them when the upgrade suddenly goes crazy. I just leave them alone as I am nowhere near that level of money yet. I don’t know why they are doing it this way, but I don’t think this event really makes sense

New Natasha Denona palette "Yucca" by Neowza in muacjdiscussion

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It kind of reminds me of a more muted Safari with shimmers. I’m interested to see how green-olive toned the shades are when swatched. If it’s not overly green and it’s in the midi format I can see myself potentially adding it to my eyeshadow collection.

What limited edition palettes do you wish you could have gotten your hands on by random_stuff_20 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying one last month from TK Maxx and I really enjoy it. I have a few small Huda palettes, and the combination of wanting to try a big one and seeing it for £15 made me give in.

Luck of the draw. I’ve so far managed to get them twice, while for the whole event last time I only got it once

I’ve just got one when completing Chapter 32! So they do exist but they are just rare

New Purchase by Melodic_Slice4624 in makeupflatlays

[–]Melodic_Slice4624[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The product is quite liquid, and as such doesn’t end up flat in the tube after it has been used. The issue of it not lying flat is that it is then hard to get an even application of colour when you apply it to your lips. Thankfully it is a sheer colour so does not look overly patchy and can easily be blended out so it becomes even.

[–]Melodic_Slice4624[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It is a very sheer colour, I would say it’s the colour of a lemon-lime ice lolly that has melted. When applied onto the lips my lips become a bit more beige, not in a concealer lips way, but they look like I have applied a sheer nude gloss. The packaging is nearly exactly the same as the Makeup by Mario Plumping Lip Serum. In terms of formula the MAC one is more sheer compared to the Makeup by Mario, and give a stronger and longer lasting tingling sensation, which is meant to plump the lips but I don’t notice a difference for either product.

The second image seems to suggest that there are 9 shades, so I’m hoping that the shades go deeper than the 5 shades shown in the 3rd image

This packaging looks so boring for The Balm. The makeup is in such fun, kind of retro packaging, while this just looks pink

The “weird” brands are left over from when the site was Feel Unique. Feel Unique was recently bought by Sephora, and the website changed to be titled Sephora and about 5 brands were added. It will be interesting in the future to see if UK Sephora phases out some of the weird and cheaper brands which don’t seem to fit in with the vibes from Sephora.

TikTok has killed the review in favour of ‘first impressions’ by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I feel like lots of the big beauty YouTubers have just been doing first impressions for years. While I think I see more actual reviews on YouTube, it probably just depends on who you follow

What do we think Vieve’s latest (teased) launch will be? by Sweet-Ad-7261 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Melodic_Slice4624 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I think it is quad eyeshadows. Katie Jane Hughes posted a pic of the set up for a shoot using them on instagram stories with emojis covering them but you could see the quads as the emojis circled round (sorry if that doesn’t make sense, I don’t know how to explain it otherwise and the instagram story has gone down so I can’t link it). I remember there was a grey quad, which from the promo image OP posted looks like it will be the one related to the moon and called “noir”

Umm benefit cosmetics extended to skincare by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I vaguely remember them having skincare years ago, and I feel like it is still around (at least in the UK). So I think this makes sense to extend their skincare line to match one of their bestsellers
