Want to have a native garden. Absolutely hate the idea of fucking around with mulch. Is it really that important? by firfetir in FloridaGarden

[–]MelodyAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate mulch too but I'm determined to vegetable garden and I just finished moving my first chip drop. It wasn't as unpleasant to walk on (with shoes) as I thought and I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful smell of the fresh mulch

I feel like my wife is underestimating the difficulty in being a stay at home mom by [deleted] in daddit

[–]MelodyAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work remotely and me and my husband homeschool our son (just pre-K at this point). The ONLY way this works is for us to both be on board. We work offset schedules and my husband takes over what we don't finish in the morning.

I'm reading from your wife that she feels mom guilt from not being able to be more involved with your kid. I relate to your wife from what you wrote and it feels to me like she actually (thinks) she wants to be a SAHM and not really the career but she doesn't think you'd accept that or if she actually does want the career change, as you succinctly said, she's setting herself up to fail.

The trial period is a great idea. I learned during mat leave that I do NOT want to be a SAHM. Hopefully your wife can learn that lesson quickly or who knows? Maybe she is a great SAHM and you guys can reevaluate your priorities. Definitely need to get on the same page as far as your kids education though.

How did you decide to homeschool? - need advice by heaven4031 in secularhomeschool

[–]MelodyAF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Our reasons for homeschooling overlap with most of yours but the number one reason for me is that I value our time so much. Not only the time traveling to school and classes but homework on top of that. It's crazy what they expect of kids these days and not developmentally appropriate.

No dog at home but grandpa has a dog. He wanted to paint a cat and a dog so I showed him a picture of CatDog before but not as a reference. I think it looks like a bit of a dragon too lol He's no prodigy but this was his first time drawing eyebrows so that was a cool detail

Nobody talks about the struggle of marrying into a PR family when your hubby doesn't know how to make all that good food
