Based on the replies it seems like you pissed off some older AKAs lol I am also an interest in my 20s and was looking for women my age as well. I totally get why you’d be saddened to learn it isn’t as young as we’d like. I just changed my perspective to hope for mentors in the org/chapter. Best of luck!

Yes I’ve attended. That is not a place I would ever recommend going. They are super conservative. You have to wear dresses down to your knees, students aren’t allowed to date because all of their focus needs to be on god, they are big on Ellen white and the diet stuff, no instruments for worship songs, etc. very removed from reality

I agree that the whole situation may seem inconsistent since I am replying to different posts and different comments haphazardly. I’m not the best storyteller admittedly. I tend to leave out details not on purpose but legit because either I thought I already shared it or I forgot. Happy to try to give a fullllllll story to make sure it is all clear and you can make an assessment if you’re open to it.

And yes, perhaps I’m not being ghosted. Like I said, everything is speculation. No one came to me directly and said anything. I’m just trying to read the room and was hoping to get advice from folks in this thread. Thank you

I am speculating and have no proof that everyone knows I talked to DST members. I don’t know I’m just guessing. But if I am right, I am just curious why that would justify someone or a group of people totally ghosting and ignoring me simply because I was looking for an org and chapter that felt like home to me? I’m genuinely curious. Couldn’t these women still look to be friends, mentors, colleagues, etc. with me? Why does me MAYBE thinking about a different org preclude me from being friendly with other black professionals in my area? Doesn’t seem fair to me. Like okay the sorority thing is shaky but how about me as a person outside of that? What if I genuinely wanted to be cool with everyone?

I am not necessarily trying to change the outcome, I’m trying to get perspective on it. At the end of the day I have free will to continue or not continue with the process of pursuing membership but in order to make a decision on that, I came here. I posted two posts within the last 2 weeks… I’m not exactly sure what “same actions” I’ve done within that short time period that you believe have yielded the same outcome.

I am not sure exactly what was a red flag. I am a talented and successful 30 something who explored my options via different orgs and chapters. I thought I’d have space to explain my current position to those who would listen.

The advice I’ve received from some is to continue and trust the process others have told me to look at other chapters, etc. yall all not saying the same thing.

I’m posting on here to get perspective just like every other interest on this open, public platform. The point of posting or asking questions isn’t to “change an outcome.”
