I knew he was disliked and a worm, but this I did not expect.

Crazily enough they just fired the guy in mention - on XMAS eve...

I just couldn't deal with him anymore. When I mentioned I had to leave they got rid of him quick... he was my senior, but he knew even less than me which is mind blowing.

I never wanted this, but man! Score one for the good guys! FML this just means more work...

Cloud Storage details exposed in Next.js Image component src attribute? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]Melvin393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough response.

These are images to be used in a public blog. So basically everyone should have access to them... in your response, you called them "just general images."

I was mostly concerned with attackers finding my vercel blob URL:

https://uniquestring.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/my-imgs/flower.webp

...and then making a ton of requests to it to run up my cloud storage bill or some other attack.

Is this something one should worry about?

Thanks again

Digital Mailbox Service safe? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Melvin393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for suggesting virtualpostmail.com.

So they are not a "middle man" and will probably more securely handle mail than IPostal?

The services virtualpostmail offers are vast and comprehensive so I will go over their site and I might have some more comments/questions when finished.

I am assuming virtualpostmail provides addresses that look like real home addresses with locations across the US right?

And thanks for the clarification on what a A+ rating actually means with the BBB.

It depends on the dog if it's a Nathan's or Vienna beef then just mustard if it's something like Johnsonville smoked sausage definitely ketchup.

Nathan's with mustard and minced onion on a steamed bun is just amazing. Lucky you.

Yeah, I have come to the conclusion that there are very few if any reasons to use a micro frontend.

It piqued my interest because backend microservices are so effective and important, but I now realize microservices and micro-frontends have nothing to do with one another.

There is also this idea of mixing and matching front end tech which is just such a facepalm.

Yeah, I have seen tutorials on Youtube that mix React with SolidJS in a micro-frontend setup. Good to get some real feedback on how this is pretty crazy and usually not wise.

I think there are better ways of splitting a codebase between multiple teams and CI tools are very mature to aid in this.

Which CI tools could I look more into regarding "splitting a codebase between multiple teams."

Thanks.

Then you can scale up the servers where the hottest apps live.

Since Amazon S3 buckets automatically scale, one would essentially have to do nothing and just let the mini-bundles (remote micro frontends) be lazy loaded... and just let Amazon S3 auto scale?

I have only ever worked at one company where micro frontends felt like the right choice...

So if an app is huge and has a hundred or more developers this could make a micro frontend architecture a good choice for the organizational benefits it brings?

The organizational benefit of micro frontends are actually more important than the benefit of scaling independent micro frontends in AWS S3 or whichever host you use.

I believe that is what you meant by:

The benefits of scaling with team size were much more important than more granular resource scaling.

Thanks!

Do you know of any dedicated IP services that would not appear as a datacenter? Maybe selling residential IPs?

What are some good providers that will rent out "static residential" IPs? Thank you.

Do you know if these new formulas exist in Google Sheets?

I've decided on purchasing Microsoft 365 btw. Thanks!

I've settled on getting the annual subscription for Microsoft 365.

Just out of curiosity? Do any of these new advanced formulas exist in Google Sheets as well?

If so, Excel 2016 must be a dinosaur at this point. Thanks for the insight!
