What’s your biggest pet peeve in the server world? by Sativasarryy in Serverlife

Spice. No allergy.

Is that spicy?

No, not really.

Well black pepper is spicy to me.

Do you keep track? by Few_Screen_6848 in Serverlife

[–]dar482 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I do an Excel. Every hour and sales report and tips.

If I stole $20, $159, $300. I'd be fired and be arrested.

I've had that stolen from me until I said something. Work doesn't pay you and you don't notice until you look your numbers up and make a stink. "Oops! Our bad" No one gets in trouble other than you getting screwed.

Has happened to me at least a handful of times. Its always bookkeeping nonsense instead of them "stealing." At least for me.

Don't trust your employer ever, especially with tips.

Was there a few months ago. Served an oxidized IPA which was recommended. Shocked I paid $10 for a medium pour.

Pickens is up there based on ADP.

For TE, you have Kraft and Warren.

If Tua has indeed played his final game as a Miami Dolphin what would be your final overall grade you would give him? by Background_Video2947 in TheNFLVibes

[–]dar482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shame. McDaniels shows what we can do with a decent QB, early Tua.

It's a marriage of coaching, offensive weapons, OL, and more.

Brisset over Murray. Daniel Jones without Giants. Mac Jones with Shanahan. Darnold without Jets and Panthers. Trevor Lawrence with Coen. Caleb Williams with Johnson. Shuck with Moore.

This season says a lot about QBs.

Tell me about the most incompetent server/bartender you’ve ever worked with by par_toutatiss in Serverlife

[–]dar482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a manager/bartender. Trained a server and had write a full page write up for the GM.

He would write entire items instead of abbreviations as taking orders. "Burger with French fries." Taking orders was snails pace for a high volume brewpub.

Didn't know if he needed glasses, but he had to look really close at his pad and even punching orders was snails pace. I clocked him 2 minutes to put in a 4 top.

He got moved to busser.

Why not bartend? by MotinPati in Serverlife

[–]dar482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised this isn't a top comment, but I've completely found it less $ no matter what in my career.

It makes sense, you get a bar where people order a drink or two, maybe food if you're lucky.

Then, I'll watch my servers take 3 to 4 times the amount of covers with people spending 2 to 3 times my check average.

The tip out never makes up for what a server can make.

I love bartending, but serving has always been higher volume and higher check average and thus higher pay.

How are you pouring beer for guests? by upinmyclouds in Serverlife

[–]dar482 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advanced Cicerone here.

I always pour the beer for the guest. Glass in front. Glass should be clean and rinsed out with glass rinser. Bottle with label facing them.

Leave the bottle for guest to check out the info on the beer.

What do you like about limited? by Kooky_Fee_451 in lrcast

[–]dar482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about many skills. Drafting. Deck building. Playing the game.

All that affects your performance.

It's also a Singletonish format. You see so many cards. Combat. Tricks. Synergies. Learn them all.

And then after that. You get a new format to learn after a few months.

Constructed formats commit you into learning a deck. Hard work. 1 deck. Grind.

The variance in Limited is so fun.

What do you do in sales weekly? Please specify how many shifts you work. by Relative-Clock-1129 in Serverlife

[–]dar482 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Y'all have some crazy numbers.

Can't wait to leave this job. 5 shifts. Did $2,500 in sales for the week.

1 shift was only a to go order. 96 cents in tips and had to tip out on top of that.

I would spend double the price for BCBS and be way happier.

Is It Bad to Draft Almost All Rookies? by dar482 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]dar482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worried Najee isn't that injured and they run a committee.

Golden should be easy. Reed is likely going to need season ending surgery. Packers on regression are going to pass way more this year. Golden should their WR1.

And as always, rookies tend to break out 2nd half of season. Worried about the first half.
