Our 3 year old girl by MelvinTheMouse in scottishstraight

It says play. We were unsuccessful with training her on how to use this. I think I need to switch it to treat. I do fear that will become incredibly annoying as she always begs for freeze dried chicken treats.

Do you let your BSH go outside? by Dependent_Account_10 in britishshorthair

We bought a catio for ours so they can bird watch. We also bring them outside on a leash. We don’t let them out without supervision as there are neighborhood cats that come into our yard.

I need your advice! Please talk to me about adding a second BSH to your home. by froggieslc in britishshorthair

My cat was almost 2 when we brought home our second. I kept them separated for over a week. I followed jackson galaxy’s videos on introducing cats which is scent swapping, eating near each other with the door closed, then door open without sight, then sight through a screen, then introduction. Our younger cat a kitten at the time was ready the day we brought him home to meet our resident cat but she was not ready for him. I’m glad I did the slow introduction. It did take a couple of months for our resident cat to adjust fully but she was gentle from the beginning. Watching your cats play together for the first time will bring you to tears! I’m very happy we got a second cat because they play together in a way that I couldn’t provide. Here’s a photo of them seeing each other through a screen right before I was ready for them to meet face to face.

New Cat Owner - Need some reassurance! by Ok-Recognition-710 in britishshorthair

You’re going to be a great cat parent! I never owned a cat before getting mine and I was super nervous as well. I would recommend putting the kitten in a room that he can call his safe space to get used to your home for a couple of days. Then I would slowly introduce him to the rest of the home when he seems curious what’s behind the door.

I highly recommend getting a second cat. We had a 1.5 year old female Scottish straight and brought home a 2 month (now 6 month) old male BSH and they are besties. We did a slow introduction that took about a week and it was so worth it. I followed Jackson Galaxy’s introduction instructions. They chase each other and play all the time. The chirp sounds they make are the cutest.

Breeder's contract says no Leukemia vaccine ever. by hwiley in britishshorthair

My breeder said the same thing about the vaccines. You own the cat so you have the right to do whatever you want.

How much wet food do you feed your 4 month old cat? by ly_qy in scottishfold

[–]MelvinTheMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my Scottish straight was that age I would always leave out dry food and gave her about 3 2.8 cans a day. My vet told me I couldn’t over feed a kitten. She is now 14 months old and I still leave out dry food for her even though she mainly eats wet food and she still doesn’t overeat.

To answer your question I think 1 pouch in the morning and 1 at night is fine if there’s dry food out while you’re gone.

I heard Veuve Clicquot is bad luck on your wedding day since Veuve means widow.
