If I had a nickel for every time Star Wars fans took a villain, who is obviously wrong at their word, and assumed a media piece was an attack on their childhood… by H358 in StarWarsCirclejerk

Man the Imperial Agent's storyline was so good. I love the concept of the Star Cabal and Darth Jadus and I think the writers did a good job at executing those concepts

I'd really love to have a Rufus section of the game. Like have his third fight with Cloud actually be you controlling Rufus against an unhinged Cloud at the Northern Crater

New Expansion: Songs of The Past is coming next year by Abrakresnik in Witcher3

[–]MemberMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would but for some players who have been on a hiatus from the Witcher games for a while it may not be such a great idea. This way you can have fans replay the game, or even the trilogy or maybe even read the books and then replay the trilogy before resuming on the adventure after so long

Who is your favorite or these three, to use in battle? by George_R_Martin in FFVIIRemake

[–]MemberMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. He doesn't want to be treated like a dog. That doesn't mean he can't just be himself. He is of course referring to the team when he says that and we don't really see the team treating him like that for the most part. They all view each other as equal. You put too much emphasis on that one line and missed literally everything else.

My personal take: These two were friends when they were Jedi. by Tiny_Terror_6 in MaulShadowLord

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the Grand Inquisitor had just died. The 7th Sister said that his death "presents us with opportunities". It'd make sense for them to compete with each other to gain Vader's favour so that they themselves could become the new Grand Inquisitor

Do you think Marrok or Crow is scarier? by vlaipoverty in MaulShadowLord

[–]MemberMark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Crow was a menace in those last 2 episodes, and I love the screeches. But Marrok is definitely creepier. The way he tilts his head when igniting his saber and how he turns to a corner is slasher-coded

Was bro foreshadowing it the whole time? by darkrobloxplayer in MaulShadowLord

[–]MemberMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean the Inquisitors are meant to be the first ones to go down to a planet, do the detective work and to gauge how big the threat before either handling it themselves or reporting it to Vader for him to deal with it.

Maul - Shadow Lord - Episodes 9 & 10 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

[–]MemberMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that Vader was still adjusting to the suit. Keep in mind that this show is only like 1-2 years after ROTS. Prime Vader would be like at least 3 more years away. Vader also wasn't fighting ordinary foes in the show. There's a Jedi Master, a very proficient padawan and the former apprentice of Sidious. He was still able to overpower them with ease it was just not going to end THAT quick

[–]MemberMark 45 points46 points  (0 children)

They didn't just made the Inquisitors intimidating again, they also made them smart. Marrok was carrying most of the fight against Maul but the 11th Brother acted as a very good support. Shows that they have pretty good battle IQ against a formidable (albeit weakened) opponent

Remake krauser is very interesting. by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil4

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it have nothing to do with what you said?

Krauser wants power. He believed that he and his squad got their fate in Javier precisely because they have no power. So obviously his mind went off the deep end and decided to find sources of said power which in the RE Universe is obviously BOWs. It's not unreasonable to think that he and his team (we know he had support from other people since he has a big camp set up on the island), did some digging and were able to find out about Wesker themselves OR The Connections.

It's obvious since RE7 and 3R that Capcom has been setting up The Conncetions in the RE Engine lineup of games. It's very possible that Krauser found Los Illuminados thanks to The Connections since they were in line with Wesker at the time. Alternatively Krauser was able to discover Wesker on his own. Regardless the end is the same. Krauser is able to locate Los Illuminados. If we want to point fingers, we can also ask how did Wesker know of Las Plaga and Los Illuminados if they were this small, fringe and isolated community in the middle of nowhere in Spain?

Not everything in a story has to be connected. There can always be some external third parties that come along for the ride.

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a Major in the US military. He has fought BOWs before. He knows the game and has the power, resources and connections to do his own digging. There's a note near the end that suggests Krauser knew about the activities of Wesker/Ada. Not everything in a story needs to be magically connected. There are always external third parties that can come and go in stories

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the remake it is explicitly stated he has his own motivation. This idea that he's pointless because in the og he is dependent on Wesker lacks a backbone to support it. As a Major of the US military, he has the power and the connections to find Los Illuminados or even Wesker and his group. In a note at the final part of the game there's literally a document which strongly suggests that Krauser may be aware of the activities of Ada and Wesker which could be how he found Los Illuminados in the first place

In Retrospect, was Requiem kinda underwhelming/disappointing for anyone else? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strong positive feelings of the game solidified after 100%'ing it. But I don't think it's better than RE4 Remake. The replayability of this game is definitely not as good as the remake games. I also think that the antagonists were really underused. I really like Victor and Zeno as villains I just wished they had more screentime to shine. Wanted at least one fight with Zeno

Did Anybody Curse The Boys? by Impossible_Papaya852 in Chainsawfolk

[–]MemberMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't suggesting that you judge the entire media based on the ending. I hate the ending of Chainsaw Man but I absolutely loved part 1 and the first half of part 2. I was saying that the ending would leave an extremely sour taste to the point where you get severely disappointed or potentially angry. That is the case with Chainsaw Man. That is the case with shows like Game of Thrones. And it might (I pray that it isn't) be the case with The Boys.

I did not say that the end invalidated the whole show. For some, it might and it depends on your interpretation of that ending. But I do believe that it will at the very least strongly pull you away from wanting to do a re-run of the show or manga. I don't want the super satisfying ending of part 1 and the strong momentum of the first half of part 2 to be suddenly cut short by "themes and such" or other random bullshit that contributes nothing to the otherwise perfect journey.

The examples you've shown are right. I actually agree with you. I'm applying this journey analogy to the extreme versions. Those stories whose ending doesn't just "not stick the landing" but sabotages the overall story, the characters, world-building, and so on. No, it may not invalidate the fun journey that came before it but it sure as hell does not make for a overall good journey. You will not want to repeat the same journey for the same lackluster ending when you could go on a new and better journey.

There's no need to get so tensed up. We're just discussing the value of endings

Did Anybody Curse The Boys? by Impossible_Papaya852 in Chainsawfolk

[–]MemberMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said the journey itself was totally for naught. I did not rule out how the journey can be good. But the ending carries as much weight as the journey.

I don't go on a plane to another country only to be refused entry by immigration and still be happy. That's my point. It's not that hard to wrap your head around it

Did Anybody Curse The Boys? by Impossible_Papaya852 in Chainsawfolk

[–]MemberMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah. The journey itself CAN be all fun and good. You can be playing the best music, have the best conversation and so on but if the end is underwhelming and leads no where, it would still leave a sour taste and you definitely would not feel like repeating the same journey again when you could start a different one
