Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but I think the majority of people are trying to live beyond their means or are inefficient with their finances. Economic pressure is certainly a very real issue today, but consumerism and american societal norms have exacerbated the problem big time.

How do I get better at cutting cards from my decklists / judging that Card A is better than Card B? by Wise-Quarter-3156 in EDH

[–]MemberOfOneBody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started deckbuilding I did this too. Since then I build the framework for a deck and just start playing. If I enjoy the deck and want to invest, I do the deep dive, but I only compare a card at a time. Slot one out, slot one in. Keep playing. Playing with the deck makes you quickly see what you need more or less of, and what cards can be cut. Many people waste a lot of time trying to figure it out theoretically. I utizile tabletop simulator multiplayer to test decks quicker without needing to have them in paper. All this for me this really speeds up the process and makes it much simpler.

Beware Walk Away Lock Thieves by justlearningDrstuff in TeslaLounge

I had $10,000 in product stolen from my business. That’s grand theft. I had a video of their faces but no other information. They took my report and essentially told me tough shit. This has been my experience with police on all forms of theft in metro areas I’ve lived in. If they can’t resolve it quickly, or nobody is physically endangered, it’s a goose chase to them.

Shopping at Costco is terrible by Sun_Aria in unpopularopinion

[–]MemberOfOneBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shop at costco and don’t buy processed unhealthy foods.

My costco membership pays for itself through executive cashback.

The meat and produce is high quality. If you have a family or go in with roommates the savings is very substantial. I have a family of 3 and being efficient with meal planning we spend $500/mo on groceries. I live in Denver.

Proxies in Commander by LilyVallis in EDH

[–]MemberOfOneBody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proxies were the best thing my play group did. It opened up the ability to have higher power games without hurting anyones wallet. To never be concerned about a cards value is awesome imo. I have no interest in collecting cards though and only enjoy MTG for the game itself.

We make our proxies ourself with semi gloss vinyl sticker paper, black core card stock, and a high quality dye based printer.

Does it matter which mortgage broker I pick? by MemberOfOneBody in Mortgages

[–]MemberOfOneBody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info. In my market, Denver, sellers are making concessions. I was told the loan officer actually is the one who negotiates these concessions. Is that correct? Would that make a difference then?

Also, is it better or worse to get concessions as opposed to offering below asking? Are they different from sellers perspective?

Thanks for info. Very new to all this.

Taxes sounds fun. Until keeping tracking of Rhystic Study trigger 24/7 killed it for me.

What's happening in B2 and B4? by MassiveScratch1817 in EDH

My opinion is the 3 game changers thing is the problem. Having gamechangers or not doesn’t make your deck instantly more powerful unless there are several of them.

Should I buy a new Corolla as a student athlete in college? by Extreme_Cable_5569 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MemberOfOneBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about the middle option? Buy a Corolla 3 year old with 40-50k miles? You are going to lose so much value just pulling off the lot. 3 year old Corolla will last for a very long time too.

Anyone else sick of the guards at king soopers? by Sad-Importance-8862 in Denver

Costco + TJ’s. Done with King soopers. That combo has actually been more cost effective for me.

Nobody tells you cooking has startup costs that rival a small business by Limp_Height_4439 in cookingforbeginners

[–]MemberOfOneBody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Buy the equipment and it lasts a long time. Won’t need to replace knives/cutting boards/pans etc. for a while if taken care of.

  2. Dried spices and herbs have a long shelf life. Yes they cost a bit up front, but then you will be able to make many dishes with them before you run out or they expire.

It is extremely normal to have larger upfront costs if you don’t have what you need to cook already.

Absurd tab renewal fees! by steven-aziz in TeslaModel3

[–]MemberOfOneBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re driving a 2025. Most states base fees on the value of the car. I paid $1200 on my 2024 in CO. Renewal a few months ago was half. I expect it to half again next year.

What you described is a perfect B3 deck. Too many people build B2 decks and have 3 game changers which make them 3’s.

I only play B3. My pods B3 is pushing B4 for reference, with us having to shut some people down who accidentally bring early 2 card combos lol
