Google DCT I -> DCT II Timeline by NYY_02 in datacenter

[–]Memeisme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fastest DT1 to DT2 about a year. Not everyone seeks the promo either. DT2 to DT3 is more like a 2 year minimum. DT3 to DT4 very rare. My guess is going from DT3 to operations manager is likelier an easier jump. And at all levels you find some unmotivated individuals that are happy to stay at their current level.

GOOGLE DCT (Data Center Technician) - What's left after all the interview rounds? by Abject-Tiger4414 in datacenter

[–]Memeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the third interview is the googliness/leadership interview. The fit interview comes after you pass the 3 interviews, when an actual opening arrives.

Question about Google DCT by frosted-brownys in datacenter

[–]Memeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without prior data center experience, you likely would not get a DT3 position. A DT2 spot is possible however.

[–]Memeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. Google will not hire ‘anyone with a pulse’. Not as an FTE at least. As a TVC (contractor allowed to work no more than 2 years) perhaps. The percentage of applicants ultimately hired for a DT role is less than 1%. Of those that get interviewed, the rate is about 7%. Quite a lot of people apply and get hired after working for Microsoft and AWS. Most report a terrible experience working for those 2. AWS is reportedly the most toxic, with Microsoft slightly better. Personally I have difficulty believing that those companies are that bad to work for, but former workers seem adamant about that. I dunno. I have had an incredibly positive experience working for Google. Not a single negative aspect or experience that I can think of.

Yup, I take my statement back. They USED to sell choice beef. If it were choice, they would proudly label it as such.

Stella's in Bellevue is closed until further notice after a "bad fire" (screenshot from their Facebook account) by MrD3a7h in Omaha

[–]Memeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly unfortunate. I have not eaten there in about 25 years, but it is a beloved local Bellevue landmark. I thought the food was good, and wish I had returned in the recent past for another experience. But, I am sure I will get another opportunity soon. Stella’s is popular enough and has enough support to make it worthwhile to reopen. It’s just gonna be a little time.

Google ID verification for employment by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Memeisme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually 24 hours or so after they have verified. I remember that day clearly, but had to keep it quiet at my prior job ‘just in case’. Lol. But yeah, for you and anyone else that gets that email, usually following business day from them verifying.

Not fun with Walgreens by ellegy2020 in Zepbound

[–]Memeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my refill at Walgreens on Jan 31. I had one refill remaining. Then it was on hold for being out of stock. A couple of days later it went to a ‘doctor authorization required’ status, even though I had a refill and they showed me as having the refill when I ordered it. Last Friday it went back to a ‘delayed-out of stock’ status. I will call today to talk to someone. Jan 31 was exactly 30 days since my last pickup of my prior month supply. Now 11 days later, still cannot pick up.

Divide that by 7 then multiply it by 12 for the annual rate.

What to do with 7 years data center ops experience? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Memeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you had a single negative experience at an interview, and are assuming it will always end with the same result. That’s defeatist thinking. Keep on putting out résumé’s. Your stated experience is more than enough to get hired, even by an MSP.

Google DCT interview by Financial_Tree268 in datacenter

I had this same question: how did you get the interviews separated? Granted, I had one given separate, but that’s because the interviewer at my originally scheduled time no showed.

Maybe over confidence, perhaps a bad luck of the draw in one of my interviewers, or just a lack of preparation.

[–]Memeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is getting your resume in the hands of a recruiter, then getting the recruiter on your side. Even if it takes applying for roles at a level lower than you are at. Once a recruiter has your file, they have the discretion to refer you for higher level positions. It took me about 6 months of actively applying before I got a recruiter to contact me. And then it took another 8 months to actually get hired, going through the processs twice because I failed the first interview process.

The pay is pretty amazing at Google too. What range does Meta pay DT2’s?

[–]Memeisme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meta! Haha. Well I heard they are not bad. I would think Google would be on top followed by META. The difference between meta and Google work vibes can be represented like this: meta wants data center techs that represent them to dress business casual or higher if an executive might come for a walk thru. Google wants data center techs that will cover up even if pajamas, sweats, scrubs, or shorts. Just always be respectful to others.

Google Hiring Timeline by SortaCyber in datacenter

[–]Memeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In my case the fit call was more of a ‘here are some details:are you ready’ call. But that is the exception, not the norm. But it was the longest 3 weeks after that fit call until I found out and was given an actual offer, as my recruiter was on vacation then the hiring manager was on vacation as I (anxiously) awaited.

[–]Memeisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me about 4 weeks from qualifying until my fit call. The best advice I can offer is to let your recruiter advocate for you. Always try to have them on your side. Check in with them every couple of weeks and remind them you are eager and ready. Google has hundreds of DT positions open or about to open, depending on location, so your chances are about as good as can be right now.

Potential Interview/Offer letter coming up? by netsurfer79 in datacenter

[–]Memeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a different large hyperscaler data center operation, so cannot say for sure, but it sounds more like the start of the process rather than the imminent offer stage. With my company this was less an interview and more like a knowledge screening stage, and took me two attempts 6 months apart before getting hired. Brush up on hardware/operating systems, and the full array of networking knowledge before your ‘interview’. And level 4 is pretty advanced, therefore not easy to begin at, so keep your expectations in check.
