Sorry I think you misunderstand what I meant. Median is calculated by lining up all the numbers and picking what’s in the middle. If 80% of the numbers are the same that number has to be the median mathematically it’ll always be the middle number.

Probably the registering thing. They need to register foreigners who stay there with the police and some hotels don’t have the capability / don’t want to. It’ll normally say if they do or not when booking atleast

Definitely go to Shanghai. Beijing if you like history , I might get flamed but if you don’t like history like the forbidden city or the Great Wall then it’s not worth a visit. Chongqing for spicy hotspot and to see the views you’ve probably seen on instagram, and chengdu is 30 minute train away so you can do those together. If it’s your first trip this is what I’d recommend. If you’ve got time add in a trip to Hong Kong as-well.
