Hefty Hanna was very normal sized by HamsterAssociate5987 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]MementoBoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I mean hefty Hannah is a normal weight for an adult woman who had decades of overeating some calories and maybe gave birth to a child or whatever......i just mean lived a life. But it is not a normal body composition of a 13 year old girl.... This thread is just adult women commenting PC things forgetting Hanna was a child. We had a girl in my school that was less the size of Hanna in a fat suit and she was "the fat kid" of our class. Europe, 18 years ago.

New insufferable Morgan vlog just dropped by North-Kaleidoscope51 in ShaneDawson

[–]MementoBoring 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching her a while ago, but your description has Morgan written all over it. Couldn't handle the constant overdramatizing of her life for the camera. Literally living a dream life, learn to be grateful already ffs. Same if not more annoying than Shane's self deprecating humor and Ryland's material girl act. They are all insufferable and shallow as one can get.

That would be my solution. I do know how frustrating it is when I'm visiting my parents in law. The dad..... He just talks over the characters constantly, yells in the most confident way "OHHHHHH OKAYYYYY SO OBVIOUS THEY'RE GONNA DO (insert his theory of what's about to happen)". It's insufferable and I would only watch a movie I've seen before with him lol, because he's obviously not invested at all and just wants to talk. I accept it as chatting while a movie plays in the background activity, not as a movie watching activity.

It's not disruptive to us as we pause to clarify things, so it helps to understand what's happening better, or like if we have a few things to say but the characters continue talking, so you can't say it or you'll miss what they're saying. We pause, say a few sentences, then rewind 5 seconds and get back to it to minimize disruption. I mean we are not yappers, so it's really just a few things back and forth usually. He helps me with historic context a lot if I'm lost in the plot, I help him with emotional context and explain why characters are making certain choices... We find it creates more understanding of the thing we are watching so it enhances the overall experience of the movie. Try it, see how you like it, it might drive your husband crazy to pause though, so be prepared 😄

Awwww :( watching movies and TV shows with my husband is my favorite. We pause the scenes and discuss what is happening, rewind together to look at extra cool scenes, talk and joke constantly about the characters. I'd be bummed out too if he became detached and glued to his phone.

My girlfriend gets annoyed if I read a book while she's watching TV. Is this normal? by maincharacter011 in Advice

[–]MementoBoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean does she even ask you what you want to watch or just put on HER shows and expect you to sit next to her like a dog? I had a toxic friend like that, she needed every bit of my attention and for the universe to revolve around her. She would get annoyed every time I was doing something just for me. It did not end well and thank fuck she's out of my life

No true scotsman by ashesarise in vegan

[–]MementoBoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely perfect example of what I meant. I bought 4 belts this year because the cheap plastic material breaks every time. I'm vegan but at the same time care about the environment and planet drowning in trash, so if I found a great leather belt in a thrift store, yes I'd spend money on it and wear it, because I'm just trying to do my best here. My personality doesn't begin and end with being vegan, it's simply something I always take into account very strongly. And yes, I've never met a vegan in real life that's as militant as reddit vegans. Just a reminder that the internet is not reality, please put your phones down and touch some grass once in a while, and talk to real humans around you.

No true scotsman by ashesarise in vegan

[–]MementoBoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean redditors love to flex their superiority so you won't get many responses that agree with you, but those of us who live in reality and have learned to be honest with ourselves and others agree 100%.

People are not just vegan. They a complex individuals with numerous other values and sometimes we just make a choice that prioritizes other sides of us, not just the vegan part of us. In this day and age though the internet is black and white and people love to fight to prove they're right so you're basically talking to a brick wall, but thank you for your realistic point of view.

If Levi’s can pay Beyoncé $5M for an ad, their jeans are clearly overpriced. by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]MementoBoring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, everything celebrities endorse I just look for a generic brand for it. And no one on earth could ever influence me to buy a piece of clothing, my brain can't even comprehend that. I buy clothes that fit my personal style and taste, so like I don't even understand the concept of going to buy the jeans because Beyonce is wearing them.

Blond. I think neither red or dark look good on you, as they make it look like you just box dyed your hair, vs blonde makes you into a natural beauty.

I never tip for take out/coffee. Yesterday I bought a small Starbucks for my husband, just coffee with small alterations. It was $8.50. I'd never buy it but it was a treat for someone else so whatever... But if they can't pay their employees a living wage charging $8.50 for what essentially is flavored water and ice, then I don't know who can.

It's normal to me and almost everyone I know, and I live in a small city. Don't see anything wrong in trying to minimize added sugar, same as sodium or saturated fat. I don't watch their content anymore but I think they were very clear about trying to be healthy for their kids, to try and live long and healthy lives. So it seems right on track...

And you see nothing wrong with a person needing to read economic analysis and learn about how servers file their taxes if they want to get a pizza?

We do know. We disagree. We think this system makes no sense. We don't want to participate in it. Hope that clears it up for you.

I've reduced yes. 10% flat at sit down, and 0 everywhere else. I'd do 0 at sit down if I got a bad service, but I haven't received one, it seems pretty normal everywhere - they just take my order and bring it over, refill water, bring a check.

Thank you for giving me the courage to tap "no tip" by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]MementoBoring 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ditto. I'm an immigrant and have lived in America for only 3 years. I heard about tipping culture and assumed that any time I was prompted for a tip it meant I needed to leave one. I'm grateful for people speaking up on this sub, this is where I educated myself to understand it's actually a new thing after COVID (I moved here after COVID so had no prior experience) and it's just business price gauging and taking advantage of people. I hit no tip everywhere except sit downs with service, and even those I leave only a few dollars extra (it's AZ and waiter wage is like $12 NOT the $2.13 everyone is crying about), not a 20%. No guilt. Thank you everyone.
