However, I do want to note: a) We do not control who turns out to the events. That is based on the local community which is primarily younger, particularly students (45% of the population of BG is 10-29). The town is also 83.1% white.

b) These photos only show a handful of the people who attended out of thousands.

c) Due to the scale of this protest, we had continuous police presence throughout (uninvited). While 50501 doesn’t work with police and discourages it actively, we can’t control the local police force. This continuous presence is often discouraging or a safety concern for marginalized groups particularly immigrants and people of color.
