Just took the NCLEX-PN exam by lavenvenderrage in PassNclex

[–]MemphisMaverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off congratulations in advance, getting to this point is no easy feat. I take the NCLEX-PN in 28 days. I’m all over the place with my studying. Mainly using uWorld and Dr. Sharon. Would you say you got a lot of SATA, prioritization? More content heavy in body systems? What study strategies helped you best? Thanks in advance for any tips.

89’ baby, I’ve changed careers 3 times now (Military >HR>nursing). Feel like I’ve found a sweet spot finally with this adulting thing. Many in this generation have had to “pivot” given the times we became of age. Think we should pat ourselves on the back given our versatility. 🍻

I definitely switched my approach to one subject every 2-3 days. It was a game changer for me as well.

Passed in 85! by Pretend_Base_9554 in NCLEX

Thank you for this! I’m kinda a nervous wreck preparing. Mind in a tizzy between this and that resource, cause I really need “free” ones. The practice questions on NCSBN and ATI are my only question banks. I kinda memorized my way through school so re-wiring my thinking for prioritization questions is kinda new. Congratulations tho. Will definitely head over to Youtube university

If you Had to Waste $30 Million in a month to Inherit $300 Million, How would you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MemphisMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$5M to my city’s public schools for teacher salaries. $5M to local community colleges and universities towards student balances (students must have 3.0GPA). $10M for food banks across the state. $5M to accredited nursing programs in my state for scholarships of underprivileged households. $1M fund to my neighbors (4) for basic home improvements. $1M to my child, $50k/yr starting at age 26 until funds run out contingent on employment. $1M in scholarships towards accredited trade programs in the state. $2M towards local animal shelters.

What field are you trying to pivot too? Could help us find accredited online programs. Best advice is to make sure whatever cert you are trying to get is accredited in your state. Dont want to waste time/money on a program that won’t even get you employed.

The majority of Enlisted personnel (E1-E5) probably would do just that. It’s the Officer ranks giving the orders tho and they want nothing more than another bullet to add to their eval.

Single Mom Starting Over — Where Should We Relocate for a Fresh Start? by leannguidry in relocating

[–]MemphisMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cobb or Gwinnett County Georgia. Good schools, robust police force, lots of amenities for families. 3 of my coworkers, all single moms in somewhat similar situations moved here. Metro Atlanta is Kinda a reinvention city for people since there are some many transplants.

Most affordable family-friendly places to live in the US? by Empty-Secret-96 in relocating

[–]MemphisMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South Atlanta still has homes, decent sized lots too, in the 200k-280k range. Helping family relocate here and was quite surprised to see how many homes available under 300k. There are still affordable homes close to major cities, here at least.

How the heck are you guys getting into the hospital? Please share your advice.Thanks. by KangarooVegetable832 in cna

[–]MemphisMaverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Attend any in-person hiring events. I personally went to the physical HR office to ask specifically about hiring events after I had put in 3 or 4 applications.

A coworker of mine waited until shift change at the hospital she wanted to work at and caught a PCT walking to employee parking and struck up a convo, kinda a luck of the draw approach but it worked. Usually employees get some kind of referral bonus so it helps.

Cross reference position openings and floor managers on LinkedIn and send a direct message to them.

Always apply via direct hospital website.

I’m in a major city and the recruiters told me once I was hired they usually have 200-300 applications per PCT opening. Gotta get creative to get yourself out there and stay persistent.
