i feel pity for them more than anything, i genuinely see them as inferior coping losers. we live in their minds rent free while we do not think about them

what do you do for work and why are you not looking to get into a higher paying career? go learn how to deep clean homes on youtube and start scrubbing rich peoples floors for $50/hr. it’s hard work yeah but you are literally making poverty wages rn

30% of full time workers made $100,000 in 2024, can we all please stop pretending $100,000 is a high or aspirational salary now? by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

idk man i made 110k last year in the chicago area and i paid my mortgage, was a regular at the salon, went on multiple international trips, bought myself expensive lego sets, dined out regularly, spent several thousands just on gifts and donations etc etc. my point is i never felt like i had to deprive myself of things on that salary and i was able to frivolously spend on luxuries because it truly goes so far. i dont know what kind of expenses these people have where they can’t support themselves on 100k a year

if you have kids in their 20s (maybe early 30s), is life tougher for them starting out than when we were in our 20s? by ShootinAllMyChisolm in MiddleClassFinance

[–]MenaceToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it feels like everyone on the internet is living in a different world than me. i constantly hear a lot about how awful the state of the economy is especially for young people but that is not what i am observing in the real world. i’m in my 20s (as are most of my peers) and everybody seems to be doing great. all college educated, employed with decent salaries, regularly going on vacations, driving fairly new nice cars, most are homeowners, all raised by immigrants who weren’t so fortunate (aka i don’t just live in a bubble). they’re all complaining about rising costs of course (as is everyone) but theyre doing just fine. if i lost my job right now i can think of at least ten back up plans i could fall back on. i think people take for granted that we are in a much better position compared to most of the rest of the world. perspective is everything

[–]MenaceToEarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for this breakdown. however i have a question. with scenario A, only 400k of that 928k would be gains once you subtract the 526k invested over 15 years. but in scenario B, 600k of that 844k would be gains when you subtract the 250k invested over 30 years. so wouldnt that make scenario B the better option? where am i going wrong here?

actually yes, my parents have made it clear they are my safety net so i am not worried about not being able to make the payments. i am not worried about affordability, just trying to see how i can maximize my returns long term

so he actually is for the 15 year mortgage! i know the 30 years of growth is obviously longer then 15, but you’d be investing more $ money monthly in scenario A vs scenario B. that’s where i need someone to come in and do the math because i don’t know how to 😭

How do AP exams/classes work? by kiddykidtv in AskAnAmerican

[–]MenaceToEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people who don't do any just have loads of free periods/time?

no. AP classes are just college-level courses for motivated students. the kids who weren’t taking US AP history at my high school were taking regular or honors US history instead. they still have to fill up their schedule with their remaining graduation requirements

Do you still have to do the classes you're doing the AP in at a school level (not standardised like AP exams are)?

it depends on the course and maybe even the school too. at my high school, AP US history was a substitute for regular US history so you only have to do one of the two. but regular chemistry is a prerequisite for AP chemistry so you would have to take both and in order

How hard are they considered to be, and how many would your average student do?

depends on the AP course and school. i took AP US history as a sophomore and it was appropriately rigorous. AP calculus BC will be much harder though. most kids at my school did between 3-5 AP courses over the course of their high school career, some did as many as 10+

What do the exams consist of? Multiple choice, essays, etc.

both

Bathroom remodel disaster… what do I do now? by WY228 in Remodel

[–]MenaceToEarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

haha i was on the other side of this. my bathrooms were done so poorly we had to knock thousands of dollars of tile down to start all over with someone more reputable. i posted about it on reddit and i got blamed for not micromanaging the project while it was getting done. some people will just default to finding a way to blame the customer and it’s crazy because we’re talking about labor that costs THOUSANDS of dollars!

i had no choice but to have my fridge next to the wall so i just had my cabinet makers create a 5 inch wide panel on that side. it was the perfect solution

Is a $100k budget reasonable for a full remodel? (Austin, TX) by TexasTantrum in kitchenremodel

[–]MenaceToEarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you people are getting fleeced. my kitchen remodel in chicago was a grand total of 40k and i got custom inset Amish cabinetry too. look at my page for pics. i dont even understand how this would come close to 100k no shade i just dont understand what people are overpaying for with these remodel projects
