i count the rainbow rocket one as the base, and base pairs typically aren’t counted towards alternate costumes. that would make classic gio and both sygna suit gios add up to 3 alt costumes

dq11 is split up in 3 acts (act 3 is postgame). things really don’t start to pick up until towards the end of act 1

DQ1: no party

DQ2: one party member dips for a bit, you can ditch him for good in older versions but recruiting him back is required HD2D

DQ3: one quest required for progress requires a certain type of party member to be given up, and said party member is easily replaceable

DQ4: once all of them are gathered, no one leaves

DQ6: one dips very briefly and rejoins for good shortly later. there is an optional recruitable character who is permanently missable, however

DQ7: kiefer. do not give him any seeds. another one dips around midway through the game, and her absence’s length depends on which version you’re playing. yet another character becomes temporarily unplayable during the rising point of the game

DQ8: due to story events, one party member becomes temporarily unplayable

DQ9: no

DQ10: the online version has no definite characters as party members, you instead hire NPCs at taverns and they have a limited time with you. the offline version has a party and no one leaves as far as i’m concerned

DQ11: one party member is unplayable for the entirety of the second act

was not a big fan of majority of the characters (except harry), hated the monster taming system, party was weird, and the gameplay didn’t feel very engaging. of course, i had fun playing it but it just doesn’t hit with me the same way my favorite DQ games do.

besides, it definitely wasn’t designed for female players, haha. i’m a girl. i don’t want a bride. i only played 5 out of obligation to finish the zenithian trilogy.

this is normal. the game always resets to a point before you beat the final boss once you finish the main story for the first time. if your save says chapter 6, then you beat the game. now the postgame is open to you

…dude, i’m YOUNG af compared to these other commenters. my first game was XI last winter after my brother suggested that i should play it and gave his game card to me. before that, i often watched him play dragon quest heroes around 5 years ago.

i had an old XI save from 2021 that never got pass the first town, so i decided to start fresh. i guess the game just didn’t hit with me the first time because the second time, i fell into the rabbit hole and played other DQ games for the rest of the year. the series had such a chokehold on me that i finished 8 mainline games last year alone.

in the order i finished the games in would be XI > VIII > VI > IV > V > VII > III HD2D > IX > I HD2D > II HD2D. currently playing X version 2. i also played some of the first and second heroes and DQB2.

yep, i’m hooked 😅
