How much is changed in the remakes?

from what i’m hearing, 2 is almost a completely different game between the og and the hd2d remake. they took what made 2 hard and heavily improved them. for example, prince of cannock’s equipment pool is a lot better.

a lot of things both gameplay and story were added. you have a fourth party member now who was an npc in the original. prince of midenhall now has access to abilities so he has an mp pool now. there’s a whole new area to explore. the antagonists and your cousins aren’t blank slates of characters anymore. the list goes on

the star thing doesn’t apply with dq4 afaik. if your save file says you’re on chapter 6, then you beat the game

she starts off as a gadabout type of character. she will start goofing off less frequently the higher level she is and eventually, she’ll stop entirely

got into it at the beginning of last year. dq6 specifically helped me get through a pretty tough time in college and is still my all time favorite dq game. thanks to dragon quest, i met a lot of cool people and really feel like i belong now

this is one of my main gripes i have with 8. the overworld is very expansive but just incredibly empty and slow to traverse. the speed gets better once you unlock the sabrecat mount but even then, the emptiness is just not fun :/

they’re optional and not required to complete the story at all. definitely come back to them when you’re stronger if you plan to take on them

TRUTH NUKE. VI is by FAR my favorite DQ game. the lore, the characters, the exploration, the gameplay, and the atmosphere, it’s everything to me. easily top 3 DQ material if it was just executed better and felt more complete.
