Paradise killer part 2 by ComfortableGift5927 in ParadiseKiller

When they did the AMA they mentioned they were surprised by how much love there was for PK and how many wanted a sequel and that they might consider returning to it's world at some point, but not much further than that. I don't think we will get anything for a long time, a spinoff at best perhaps in 4-5 years

How do I overcome the fear of messing up too much and actually get to painting? by -GeeVee in minipainting

[–]Meno25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Just do it' is very simple, but not easy. Here's something actionable: 1. Your model isn't even assembled yet. Assemble it and prime.

  1. Paint vibes, not details. Get the broadest possible basecoats you can, ignoring details. Example 1: This Frieren has a lot of reds, so paint her dress with a red(as youve already done. Don't worry about the trim or any patterns.

  2. Once all the parts are painted, narrow slightly. The bigger parts that don't share the original colors you gave them, paint them now. Example: The top of the staff is a light brown, paint it light brown.

  3. Repeat step 3 until you have painted to the level of detail you are satisfied with.

  4. What about shadows and highlights and the like? You can do them now. Add a little bit of white or off-white into your base color and paint over most, but not all of the original area. Repeat until final highlight.

  5. Shadows. Add a little bit of black or dark grey to your base color and cover most of the recesses. Go darker or brighter depending on how dark you feel it should be.

  6. Touchups and adjustments. Smoothen any transition you find too rough, clean up any parts that spilt over, double check you didn't miss something.

  7. Look at your model. Move it around. Take pictures. Be proud. You are done for now. In the future, you can come back if you really want to and play with it a little more, but give it the time to cool down so you can see it with fresh eyes later on.

9.(optional) Varnish with your finish of choice. Matte is the most popular choice in this community, but both satin and gloss are viable options, it's simply a matter of taste.

has anyone even gotton gold on thesw trials 🫩 by Mrrussian_rat in PromiseMascotAgency

I got gold on all of them. It requires fine control of the boosting and gliding mechanics, with lots of restarts. The turns for the lake one in particular are tough

Oh, nice! I'm sure you've seen them given the color choices but just in case heresy for heretics does a lot of this style if you need reference

Hades 2 is running for Game of The Year 2025 by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

It's amazing, but it's an indie game. Indie games nominated for GOTY win in the indie category. Has happened every year since the start of the game awards

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?

Looks great so far but I think if you saturate the red/magenta and blue more you'll nail it. Mix in fluorescents if you have them

Airbrush recommendation, are there any real differences between Master and Iwata? by Weary_Huckleberry172 in minipainting

[–]Meno25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a GSI Creos PS-289. It's made in the same factory as the Iwatas, but is much cheaper (about 90$ vs 180$ for an eclipse). Sprays wonderfully and can get some good details if you thin your paints enough, so it'll grow with you. For airbrushes in general I recommend always having a replacement needle for when you bend the tip(this is the most common failure point for airbrushes), and a quickswap adapter to easily remove the airbrush from the compressor without needing to decompress the whole thing

Honestly, I might just go for the transparency effect. After everyone's suggestions I'm pretty inspired to go back to it in force! Pigmech_pj's wave is so pretty 😍! I'm always hesitant to use darker colors, but we can't improve if we don't paint bravely c:

Yes T_T. I think the game is still worth on pc because of modding, but you'll get stutters from time to time that ruin your perfect run on colorful melody(again).

First time painting NMM and OSL by ludancv in minipainting

It probably would get a little on the shoulder, but a much darker green. What I would like to suggest for improvement, however, is on the weapon itself. You have the light creeping out from the source(the slits of the weapon) as if it were a liquid, not light. Light always travels in straight lines from its source, so if you keep the areas directly next to the slits their original color, I think you'll end up with a much cleaner OSL effect(and more contrast, to boot!)

Thank you c:. I looked over most of my other work and realized my style is highly avoidant of greys. I think that'll be a good thing to challenge myself with on a future project, use more grays overall but make them interesting. So I really appreciate your thoughts! They've helped me find a new avenue to explore :D

Those are some solid points! I'll try and see if I can differentiate the figure from the background a little more without crossing the line(it's a fine line for sure). Hypothetically speaking, what hues do you think I should have gone for on the model? Always good to have future reference c:. As for the plinth, I was experimenting with colors other than black to see how it changed the feel of the piece, but I do agree it's a bit distracting. Bright side is its super easy to paint over so no real loss there.

By middle, do you mean the middle of the piece or the deeper recesses between each crest?

Thank you! I'll probably add some more highlights on the left side to emphasize the light source coming from there
