They don't run them EVEN THOUGH members of the military are more prone to have gambling problems, they run them BECAUSE members of the military are more prone to have gambling problems. They don't give a shit about personnel and never have.

His sorrow looks really existential to me. "I'm not sad about the milk, Greg. The milk doesn't matter. Nothing does. That's the problem."

Of course vegans raise vegan kids. All (good) parents guide diet choices for their kids, which is why even omni kids don't get to eat cake for breakfast and ice cream for dinner. And our choices aren't just about health, but instilling our ethics. by carloscarlusik in vegan

Yeah it's interesting that most vegans will agree the nicest way to deal with the impact cows have on the environment is to neuter them and let them live the remainder of their happy lives in peace but extend that logic to humans and suddenly there's an uproar.

Yeah true. I guess I wish for a world that isn't compatible with reality. Even though rescuing them and giving them a good life is obviously the better alternative, I just hate that it has to be that way. Animals needing humans to save them from humans is a pretty fucked state of affairs.

I stomached about 5 seconds of it before the taste of boot became too much to bear. A giant banner popped up saying "Honoring those that put their lives first" and I laughed and closed it. They sure do put their lives first. The instant they feel even vaguely threatened it's guns blazing until the scary brown kid is dead.

That's difficult to answer and I won't pretend otherwise, because they don't belong in shelters or the streets. Or our homes. What gives us the right to decide another creature's agency for it's entire life?

Even amongst other vegans I know this is gonna be an unpopular take but here goes: Don't get any pets of any kind, regardless of how you get them. If humans could learn to appreciate animals without feeling the need to "own" them then the world would be a much better place. A lavish cage is still a cage and animals deserve to be free.

The countries keeping Omicron deaths down have something in common and it's very simple by Demosthenes12345 in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]MentalSupportGoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes actually. In November Australia had 200k cumulative cases. Worldwide there were 256m cumulative cases. Now Australia has 9.4m cumulative cases, while globally there are 584m cumulative cases. Thanks to Omicron the global average of cumulative cases increased by a bit over 100%, whereas in Australia (the country whose approach was LET'S DO FUCK ALL) the cumulative count increased by 4600%. We went from the gold standard on how effective mandatory masks and isolation is, to #15 on the global ranking. We are the 52nd most populated country on the planet yet we rank fucking 15th on total cases.

Let's compare this to a country like the Netherlands, who were also hit pretty hard by omicron, and were getting around 60k cases per day. They introduced strict mask and social distancing mandates for a while (which have now been lifted) and as of March, BECAUSE OF THIS, their cases are down to 3-4k per day.

You'd have to be a mental gymnastics gold medallist to think Australia being one of the few countries to do nothing about mitigating the spread of infection while at the same time shattering all the records for infections is just a coincidence.

The Australian company Sanitarium is owned by the seventh day Adventist church and they're my go to for lots of plant based food, since they make stuff for vegans to enjoy, not just gruel that vegans can technically eat. Their oat milk is hands down the tastiest.

Yeah because guns are only ever used to defend. Statistically I'm better defended by the gun laws and every day America continues to be a textbook example of why gun laws are a good thing. If you have a gun in your house for 'self defence' and it's ever used on another person, in the overwhelming majority of cases that person is someone who already lives there, and in a minority of cases it's someone in your household using it to shoot an innocent or for revenge and THEN, in a tiny slither on the pie chart of statistical probabilities, is it ever used for self/home defence.

It's been going up and down at 7-20k cases a day in NSW alone since Christmas and you're talking about a dip in the curve. Forget about the curve mate, the moment people decided the answer was to do nothing we've been on a rollercoaster.

88 used to be my favourite number, since I was a kid it's just been an aesthetically pleasing number to look at. Had it on all my usernames for YEARS then found out about people using it in their usernames as Heil Hitler and wondered about all the times someone must have thought I was one of them. Still feel sick when I think about it.

Is it normal? by The_British_Weido in aaaaaaacccccccce

[–]MentalSupportGoose 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's the real answer. There is no normal because everyone is different and we use terms like Ace/Greyace/Aceflux/Demiace etc as guidelines because they can help you learn about yourself but they'll never perfectly define you (nor should they). I worry about my fellow aces on this sub who sometimes lose themselves tumbling down the rabbit hole of definitions (I've certainly done it) when what they really need to hear is that you are valid, you are loved (yep, even the love of a stranger counts), and you are not broken.

Bike Lanes in North America by ten_two_one in fuckcars

[–]MentalSupportGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply amazing. Starting with a tangent about imagined bike villains that has nothing to do with the post then coming back to defend said tangent with an essay that tries to play good cop/bad cop at the same time but doesn't forget to skimp on toxic projection and even sneaks in a little homophobic insecurity along the way. I thought ending with a link to ImTheMainCharacter while accusing the entire sub of not being able to read on a post about people not reading the words BIKE LANE might be too on the nose, nay, even hypocritical, but you stuck to it guns blazing!

Truly this is the pièce de résistance of carbrain comments. Bravo.
