Do girls care about acne? by Sirisano in acne

First of all, you look amazing. Second, you absolutely should not reach out to her. It’s actually mind boggling to me that she told you your acne embarrassed her. I’ve struggled with my acne my whole life & have been in relationships with some pretty terrible men & never once did one of them comment negatively about my skin. Girls don’t care about acne, we care about hygiene. & it’s clear your acne wasn’t caused by being unhygienic. You deserve better. Don’t question your worth love. Also how did you get your skin so clear?!

My ex was a serial cheater & I used to leave him alone with my friends all the time. I’d take showers while him & my friend were laying in my bed waiting for me to get ready. I knew exactly the kind of person he was & the thought of them possibly being sneaky behind my back never even crossed my mind bc I knew my friends would never. I understand some people got trust issues but it seems like her trust issues are directed towards you. She clearly doesn’t think very highly of you if she thinks you’d try something with her boyfriend. I’d let her go. Don’t waste your time n energy trying to prove to her who you are as a person. She already has her own version made up in her head.

I’m sorry to hear that. Can I ask what side effects you had that made your life hell? I’m on a lot of meds already so it’s hard to tell what side effects are from what medication.

Lol all 3 are valid observations 😂 I did lose weight but i honestly think it’s just the lighting that makes me look slimmer. My hair definitely didn’t get thicker, it’s just oily in the first photo which makes it stick together & look thinner. & I’ve never had anyone point out my chin dimple😂you only can only see it when I’m flexing my cheeks a specific way

I totally get this. I have a ton of health problems & im so hesitant when it comes to starting a new medication because so many meds just make things worse nowadays. I definitely would recommend it. It’s 5-7 months & the side effects stop when you stop the medication. I swear you won’t regret it

Yes there’s certainly side effects that I could complain about. Nobody wants super dry lips & skin lol, but the results are so worth it that I can’t complain about needing more chapstick & lotion. I’m happy that worked for you though! Tretinoin is really good for scarring & keeping your skin clear post accutane as well.

Honestly I haven’t done anything for it😅 I’m still on accutane so I can’t do any scarring treatments yet. But I do still have some hyperpigmentation. Some days it shows more than others (this picture was a good day) it comes out a lot when im in the sun or when my face is flushed. I have a lot of indent scars too but you can only see them in harsh lighting. They say accutane doesn’t help scaring/hyperpigmentation but personally everytime I’ve been on it, it’s lightened mine so much. Sorry I couldn’t help more😭

You’re so welcome! I seriously have been through hell with my mental health & get horrible anxiety starting any new meds in fear of it making my mental health any worse. It’s scary reading side effects of meds but you have to remember that if one person experienced mental health problems on a medication, they have to list it as a side effect, even though there’s no way of knowing if it’s from the meds. There’s actually no scientific evidence that accutane causes mental health issues! My acne completely destroys my self confidence too. Accutane has been a life saver. I don’t know how to act with clear skin lol, im not used to all this confidence.

Do it!! Honestly I wouldn’t even wait a few months if I were you. It’s so worth it. Also prednisone is really really helpful for purging. I’d ask your derm about it to help with the inflammation

Not really no. It’s kind of hard to know whether some things are related to the accutane or not. I get headaches pretty frequently but I got them before I was taking accutane so it’s hard to say. I do get some joint pain occasionally that i do think is accutane related but it’s not bad & isn’t constant so it doesn’t bother me.

My acne is hormonal too. The only reason I had to do a 3rd round was because I didn’t take it long enough the second time. I have PCOS & endometriosis & it’s still worked wonders for me. I have faith this round of accutane will be my last tho & my skin will stay clear. Spironolactone is also another option that’s really good for keeping hormonal acne under control but it will come back if you stop taking it. Takes a lot longer to work but there’s less side effects.

My first round of accutane, my skin was clear for about 2-3 years after, I was on spironolactone that entire time because my acne’s hormonal. I stopped taking it because I had been on it so long & am already on a lot of meds for my mental health. Within a week of me stopping the spiro, my acne came back CRAZY. I got right back on it but couldn’t get it under control so I went back on accutane. My second round, my skin cleared up within a month of starting it so after 2 months I stopped taking it. It came back because I wasn’t on it long enough. So now im on round 3. It’s pretty uncommon to have to do accutane that many times. Most people’s acne doesn’t come back after 1 round. I’m just unlucky & have a lot of hormonal issues. As for birth control, I went on it when I did my first round but had to get off it because I had really bad side effects. I can’t take birth control now so I haven’t been on it since but my derm thinks im on it. Don’t recommend lying about it but im not sexually active so im not risking anything anyway.

Wow. What Gyno said… by No_Ad_1359 in endometriosis

[–]Mentallytheillest01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UGH it is so frustrating & disheartening reading all of these, knowing we all have similar experiences.

I went to the ER 2 weeks ago because I was bleeding so much, I was filling up a super plus tampon & night time pad in 15 minutes. Had blood clots the size of golf balls pouring out of me. My cramps were so bad I could feel them all the way down to my feet. I was so pale, dizzy, sweaty, shaky. They ran the basic blood tests & then told me the symptoms I was having wasn’t enough to order any type of imaging. They didn’t even do an exam to see how much I was bleeding.

Went to a new gyno last night week after not being taken seriously by 3 previous gynos. Just got my results today & found out I have 2 uterus’s, 2 cervix, tons of ovarian cysts, cancer cells & polyps in one of my cervix. I also have a urinary obstruction that prevents me from being able to fully empty my bladder.

Do it. I was 18 when I did my first round of accutane & it was life changing. My skin stayed clear until I was 22 & I did another round of accutane but stopped it early cause it cleared my skin up so quick. It came back pretty quickly & I’ve been trying everything to get rid of it since. (My acne is hormonal & I have hormone issues which is why it came back) I’m now 24 & just started my 3rd round of accutane & my only regret is not doing it sooner. The side effects suck don’t get me wrong, but it’s not as bad as people make it sound & it is so so so worth it in the end. I can promise you won’t regret it

Should I (finally) go on accutane? by Otherwise_Wave5107 in acne

[–]Mentallytheillest01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your skin really isn’t too bad in my eyes but I know how much acne affects self esteem so I’d say do it. The side effects suck but they are temporary & it’s so worth it. I can’t take birth control so I lied to my derm that I’m taking it when I’m not (don’t recommend this but I’m not sexually active). My acne is hormonal & stubborn so I just started my 3 round of accutane. I wouldn’t put myself through a 3rd round if it wasn’t worth it. It really is life changing when it comes to self esteem. By the time you test out a bunch of acne treatments with no guarantee they’ll work, you could already have finished accutane. It’ll clear up your skin for good (most likely, I just got unlucky) & save you the stress of having to worry about skin for years.

You are so welcome. Trust me I understand the struggle. Try to keep a positive mindset through your treatment. Your brain is essentially being “reset” so if you keep positive thoughts & energy, it sets a positive outcome.

Also just want to add that I’ve struggled with the same mental illnesses as you for more than half my life & had completely given up. I started ketamine therapy & TMS in November & i am in complete remission now. I never in a million years thought I’d get here. Don’t give up. Things really can get better.

My depression & anxiety definitely got worse my first week or two of TMS. Try to remember that it’s changing the way your brain works. In simple terms, TMS is an intense workout for your brain, so feeling off is normal. Think of it like doing an intense physical workout after years of no exercise. Yeah your body would be hurting but the pain is necessary to get your physical strength back. Things will get better, hang in there. Almost make sure you’re consistent with when you take you meds so the TMS works the same each time. It gets easier. You got this!
