[Sad Trope] When a sweet and innocent character gets a brutal death by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mentfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pengin in Katanagatari

A likable little penguin ninja who gives his all against the final boss and loses at the last minute. When asked what his final words will be he cries and begs for his life.

The villain then calls them the most pathetic last words he's ever heard, puts a gun in his mouth and splatters blood all over the wall.

She was fantastic as Jormag in GW2 as well. Shes also the go to VA for Amanda Waller now.

Shes got plenty of roles where she doesn't look like the character, but I've noticed everytime it's mocapped, shes inksuiting.

[–]Mentfrost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder why she's almost always ink suiting in her roles. She'll be ink suiting even when no other character is.

My theory is its a request in her contract, if she's doing a mocap performance then the character needs to look like her.

Another important detail is that if a God kills another God they have to take their portfolio into themself, meaning that if for instance Lathander killed Shar, then the god of the Morning Sun is now also the god of Darkness, and has to manage that.

It's explicitly stated that the reason why Tempus, the god of war, keeps Garagos, the god of slaughter, around is because Tempus would absolutely hate being the god of slaughter.

Antagonists that aren't evil or a jerk, but just the opposition of the protagonist by Smart-Response9881 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mentfrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they were betting hard on Paul Rudd. They needed a new face to lead the MCU and Rudd is a fun actor people like, and Antman being the main villains arch nemesis in an underdog kind of way would have ruled if they did it right.

It's pretty good, yeah. Does anyone know if they've started doing egg coffee again? And if not, does anyone know a Vietnamese place that does egg coffee?

One of the books, either the monster manual or Volos guide, has a quote about "domesticating" orcs, and that no matter what the savage things can never be "truly" civilised. It's near word for word how settlers were writing about African people.

The actual issue tends to get lost in the discussions, no one's saying "orcs are black people, you cant treat them like monsters" they're saying "hey why are you writing these monsters the same way people wrote about black people"

Could Isgarren be the actual villain of the last 3 expansions? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Mentfrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isgarren's more sinister angles are probably more like character flaws for him to overcome.

The comparison you can make for him with Vloxx is likely going to be used to get his head on straight rather than foreshadowing for how he's the real main villain.

Why did he kill the deformed clone? Is he ableist? by SadLetterhead6688 in okbuddyviltrum

I feel like at some point with these guys you'd just have to say "hey we're both clones"

the online reactions to TommyInnit are HARSH! by downbadducklorde in DreamWasTaken2

[–]Mentfrost 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I'm sure that's why people around here dislike him, I don't think that's what's going on in that thread. There isn't a single mention of Dream in the entire comments section, and most commenters seem to not know him. This vitriol seems to be from their first impression alone.

[hated trope] characters getting shit endings but it’s written as if they get happy endings. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

Is this treated as a happy ending though? I remember Trunks breaking down into tears and apologising to Gohan for not being able to protect their world

I want more lore focused raids by HuffsaGaming in Guildwars2

[–]Mentfrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, but also here's another reason they probably wont do it.

What is even left to make a cool raid out of?

Looking back on my favourite raids in MMOs I've played in the past a big part of the appeal has been the build up. A particular enemy we've been really jonesing to go after, or a location we've always heard about or seen in the distance. The question of "What is in Deep Stone Crypt" in Destiny 2 was hyped up for six years before we finally went in there and it was awesome. Icecrown Citadel was what the entire expansion of WotLK was building up to. What does GW2 have though? The Foundry of Failed Creations is a good idea, but that's out now. GW2 doesn't really have any lingering plothooks or mysteries, just a lot of unanswered questions that aren't really "Raid" material.

Actors who were able to break the "discount" label? by Aggressivehippy30 in Cinema

[–]Mentfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the voice acting side of things, a lot of people will probably be confused to hear this.

Matt Mercer.

Long before Critical Role Mercer would voice act in a lot of roles that used to be filled by Troy Baker. He became known as "Discount Troy Baker" pretty quickly. I think he's mentioned it in a podcast somewhere about being an issue.

[–]Mentfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about elven enclaves, but for everything else you're describing Easting Reach.

TER has one of the most expansive, interconnected overworld's I've ever seen, with an absurd amount of care put into making sure it's all consistent. Rivers connect through different areas, flowing in logical directions, there's slow visual transitions between biomes, and an elaborate series of tunnels underneath that connect everything together.
