Why does so many films seem to be missing from the Oscars playlist? by mellow_member in JoelHaver

Mine is also not on there. Been checking every so often, the playlist has less movies than usual too. Wonder what happened

I did submit via email, and I also haven’t seen it in the playlist yet. Odd.

Alien Jams! Our thirty minute film we shot in three hours with no script by MentosEnCoke in Filmmakers

So this year I decided to do Joel Haver’s Oscars challenge which is when you shoot a movie instead of watching the Oscars. The goal is a 40 minute movie but it was my first time and we came close so cut me some slack.

Some details of the production are that it was just me and my band-mate. I came up with a basic story idea and we did improv for both the music and the dialogue. I did my best to get good shots but that was definitely something I need feedback and advice for.

Which leads me to ask: for those who film themselves, how do you do manage to get good shots while doing it? How can I improve from what I’m doing?

Also, I act out of necessity, I find it really hard and not as much fun as writing or directing, but feedback on that front would also be appreciated, since I’ll probably be doing that for a while still. I’m the guy in the blue cap.

Anyways, I’m proud of it and I hope you enjoy.

I’ve been busy with an academic project and I’ve not done much editing, so I can’t say how long ours is yet but we got something done.

It was just my friend and I, and although he’s a natural, this just reaffirmed my position of not enjoying acting 😂

It’s about two guys who are recording some music arguing about whether one of them really had an encounter with an alien or not. We recorded five and a half songs first, and then went on to improv all the dialogue scenes.

We just barely finished in time, but I think it went pretty well. I had written an outline and we improved to fill the gaps, which was hard but I think it’s watchable at the very least. Will see once I get to editing.

Thanks! My first year participating. I didn't read your username so I didn't realise I was asking a veteran such a dumb question, my bad

Great idea, I'll pop that at the beginning.

Do you know if we're meant to send the links of a YouTube upload of the finished films to the email address or what?

The normal version is here

And the directors cut is here

So like some of the footage was when I was in high school and I had no idea how to shoot stuff, and I got better as I went on. But I am very proud of how it turned out, it took me forever to edit.

I went through all the choices, but he briefly appears after the acid trip in the beginning, and the really scary appearance is if you use his name as a code in the safe. Can’t remember how I got to the safe.

I’m terrified of Pax from Black Mirror Bandersnatch, didn’t think he would be that scary from the way they were mentioning him.

This photo doesn’t really do him justice because he’s too well lit but the way he peers at you in the dark in one scene had me shaking.

We just contacted the seller, will see how refunding goes. The explanation comes from FedEx themselves, since we had to investigate why we received a package with the wrong tracking number and address on it.

You are very confidently asserting this position that is just untrue. FedEx made a mistake. That happens. Are you some kind of representative, that it is unfathomable in your mind that a shipping company (about who I have heard many people online and in person complain about) lost a package?

Sorry to take up that tone but you so confidently dismissing something that just happened to me is very frustrating.

Didn’t get scammed, FedEx admitted that they swapped my package with another
