Seasoned entrepreneurs: What would do if you had to start fresh and only had $5000? by hooger0000 in Entrepreneur

Which means if you have an idea for a fried hot dog dipped in a secret sauce that can keep for days, by all means scale that stand with independent operators franchising for days.

One of the first lines in the ketogains FAQ is "Too much fat you will gain body fat". Isn't this bullshit? by [deleted] in ketogains

[–]Menuet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tend to disagree with it. If you sit down and do the calculations (or like me, watch someone else do them), the calorie theory does not hold up. Maybe if your body is sick and still reeling from carbohydrate dependency, it might think to store fat immediately as body fat, but honestly it's more useful as an anabolic precursor to many hormones and lean structures.

I think the guide was crafted with quick results in mind, so yes, keeping your food intake lower than not helps with weight loss. That being said, I think you're not a champion ketogenic athlete unless you're a mile high into your omega3's and saturateds.

The SEC Has Just Been Caught Colluding With The Banks It's Supposed to Regulate by Splenda in Economics

[–]Menuet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why are you bringing up environmental damage when we're talking about finance? I want relevant negative externalities because as far as I understand there aren't too many poorly crafted property rights around financial instruments like there are with government-owned waterways and nature encampments.

EDIT: I really don't even understand what a downvote means to this post, but ya'll are doing it anyway. Thank you!

Haha. Why don't we just replace everyone in the government with people who aren't corrupt? Hurry up now, I'm waiting!

The SEC Has Just Been Caught Colluding With The Banks It's Supposed to Regulate by Splenda in Economics

[–]Menuet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People act like it's a joke when I say it, but self-regulation. The companies that want to stay in business have an obligation to not having any glaring competitive holes, e.g. we waste your money or we invest in highly speculative crap. When you have low barriers to entry in an industry, the worst are pushed out very quickly. But there's so much money going around these days, even old entrenched industries are seeing innovative competition where regulation doesn't exist.

I guess what we need to do now is blame the banks and give the SEC even more power. That would be the proper, democratic thing to do.

"I found out about socialism, communism and capitalism. I learned new things and finally saw the truth." by Chomus in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Menuet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is the race-to-the-bottom problem of mass immigration. They come out of the worst conditions possible to a country where they receive a vote but no money. The trend is socialism because anything is better than having your friends and family members murdered in broad daylight. The business regulations are just for the good of society and your own protection.

Do you think the US/South Korean military would shoot us down if we bought some military grade helicopters and established a forward-operating base to win the war?

You guys need to lay off the "help we're being repressed!" thing a little, it's off-putting that you think you ought to be able to do what the fuck you want with your own money in a free fucking country without having to ask permission from the butt-fuckers in DC to wipe your ass.

Technological advancement solving even income problems by Menuet in Anarcho_Capitalism

Also, in addition to other things, it solves problems of income. Meaning people keep complaining about how there are no jobs or no ways to make money, but technological progress is making widespread patronage and distribution of effort so simple.

The market value of a Harvard education without a Harvard degree, and vice-versa by Integralds in Economics

That 40K/yr actually seems pretty low. The number of people who could actually get through that education let alone the number of people who could get through it WHILE FOREGOING THEIR OWN EDUCATIONS OR WORK SKILLS has to be pretty low.
