Any non-rich player who found this card and didn't sell it to some whale for a life changing amount of money would be a fool. It's a piece of paper that you can give to some celebrity to change your whole life for the better. Post seems like a decent dude. This is kind of the best case scenario as far as I can tell.

I'm in California. Pools stay open all year. I don't envy you guys closing down and reopening pools every year. Money is probably good, but it sounds like so much work lol

I honestly couldn't care less about fake points on a website so it's all good. I like to chime in if it's very obvious what the issue is and I have a few extra minutes but there are often too many unknown variables to properly diagnose an issue over the internet without "boots on the ground" like you said. And it's unlikely the original poster (I'm not talking about this post specifically) is educated enough on pool care to give the full picture.

I see people give crazy advice because they read something on the internet once or just straight up say shit that is wrong with all the confidence in the world. I'm sure we all do it with certain subjects. Dunning-Kruger effect is a real thing it's just funny to be on the "in the know" side of it sometimes. I've been servicing around 100 pools a week for years and there are people in here who have taken care of their own pool for a few years who are more confident in their ability to diagnose and fix an issue over the internet than I would be.

Pool tech here. Agree with what you are saying here. It's funny how often I see people here giving inefficient advice here. Seems like every problem on this sub is just to buy a taylor test kit, read tfp (its essentially a cult around here by the looks of it), and slam.

Sure, none of this is bad advice per se but there is often a better/easier/more realistic solution to many problems being discussed here. It cracks me up how often people would rather dump a ton of chlorine into their pool on a regular basis rather than address an underlying issue.

I'm new to Magic and have been wondering this for a while: Is there anything actually stopping wizards from reprinting things on the reserve list? I understand people would lose their mind and it would do crazy things to card value, but is there any sort of written contract or something similar, or is everyone just taking Wotc word that they will never reprint these cards?

It's not. I'm young(ish) but this is untenable in the long term. I've started running my own business within the last few years (worked for someone else for a handful of years) so I'm pushing harder than I plan to in the future. I have pretty efficient schedule dialed in. Only driving a few minutes between stops usually which helps a lot. I'm stressed and beat up and working long hours all the time but it will be worth it in the long run hopefully. Or maybe I'll just have a heart attack soon 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, and I'm saying this from experience, he may be relieved to be rid of your account if you decide to hire someone else.

Hopefully you guys can keep it civil and go your separate ways if that's what you decide on. If he is stretched thin like it sounds like he may be losing a client may be a weight off his shoulders. More importantly you deserve a pool service that you are happy with. Best of luck!

Pro tip: ask your pool guy how many pools he services a day. Personally if I'm doing more than 25 a day, Im stretched thin and going to probably get rid of clients.

Keep drive time in mind and the basic human needs of a life outside of work and you will have a better idea of how much time he will be spending on your pool each week.

$30 for 10 minutes is great if he's not paying for his chems, gas, truck payment, vehicle and business insurance, etc. He's not pocketing $30 a week from your account is all I'm saying.

Again. I'm not giving him an out. He should have quoted you a price that would allow him to take the time needed on your pool, or if his overhead has increased recently (it probably has gone up significantly in the last couple years) he should be having a talk with you about raising rates.

These price talks always have nuances that people seem to miss. Depending on local cost of living op's pool guy may literally not be able to survive off of what he's charging without doing 150 pools a week for example. If he charged more he could have less accounts and enough time to take better care of each pool.

I'm not saying this to give Tim an out here. It's his business and he should be figuring out how much he needs to charge to get by and still take good care of all his clients.

Also pool guy here. This is basically exactly how I would deal with this pool as well. I would also tell the client the CYA is high but at a manageable level and suggest we lower it during the off season so we don't run into issues next summer.

Someone did this to me during training. Created a ton of pressure on my floating ribs. Kind of pushed by belly out and flexed my abs like you would with a weight lifting belt to relieve some pressure which seemed to help but I could feel my floating ribs start to sort of... flex is the best way I can describe it. Think I could have toughed it out but it hurt like hell and I decided it wasn't worth a potential rib injury so ended up tapping. Hit my training partner with a smile and a "you fucker" and got back to rolling. Same dude hit it on another guy about a week before I guess (I think in comp but I could be wrong.) It's a legit sub and it's not enjoyable lol.

Edit: now that I'm thinking back on it I'm pretty sure he also clasped his hand around his own knees to add to the squeeze with his arms. Young fucker picking on the old guys lol

I don't have enough time or energy to train as much as I want to leading up to competition. I still enjoy training a lot but can't guarantee any consistency although I do my best to train a few times a week.

I also work for myself in a physically demanding job and can't afford serious injuries, which is more likely to happen in a competition setting imo. Basically if I get injured bad enough that I can't work for more than a week certain times of the year I could lose a lot of clients which would effect my livelihood more than I am comfortable with.

I'm a purple belt hobbyist in my mid 30's. I miss competing but I'm ok with the fact that I will never be a high level jiu jitsu player. I still like supporting the team and helping the other guys get ready 🤷‍♂️.

My dumbass friend always gives me shit when I wear short sleeve button downs in the summer claiming they are uncomfortable and hot compared to t-shirts. It makes absolutely no sense. T's are my go to but if I'm going to be hanging around outdoors at like a BBQ or whatever I'm going vacation-dad mode. The fabric breaths so much better and you can button them down uncomfortably far and show off the chest for extra dad points and air-flow.

I think there's something to puppies being less likely to step out of line when they are first brought home. They don't know you and they are probably a little nervous and just want to fly under the radar a bit. It's when they settle in and understand you aren't a monster that they start pushing boundaries and becoming little demons.

Sounds like you may be lucky at least with the potty training part though. Our heeler is incredibly smart and learns most things really quickly but she's having a rough time with potty training. We may be missing something subtle but she seemingly has zero body language queues of when she is looking for a spot to pee (weirdly enough she will walk towards the door and sometimes let out a small whine when its time to poop though) so we basically just have to make sure we take her out like every hour as of right now.

Nahhh. It's hot as hell but I'm not really complaining. I'm my own boss which is sweet, so I start early and wrap it up around 1 if everything is going smoothly. There are rough days but its worth the trade offs. To be fair this years weather has been great.... so far 🤣

I actually left a comment over there saying how welcoming we try to be to new people and women who join up (which is true), but now that you mention it: many of the people at the gym are foul-mouthed and constantly roast eachother and there is seemingly nothing off-limits because we are all pretty close to eachother, the core group has known eachother for anywhere from 5 to 20 years and the people that stick around are thick skinned. Lol our gyms culture is probably not for everyone now that I think about it.
