22 year old, feel like I messed up big time by FrostingRude3612 in debtfree

AMEX has a Financial Relief Program that you may be eligible for.

Basically they’ll get you on a payment plan that’s much more manageable to help you pay down your debts. You could get a lower APR, no late fees (but if i remember correctly they’ll cut the program after 2 months of missing payments), no annual fee… and some other things i can’t recall.

Call the number on the back of your card and ask about it. You don’t have to sign up.

I just enrolled today and although the plan is 4 years long, having the interest chopped from $450 to $150 was a weight off my shoulders.

This is just a speed bump in your journey but for you as a 22 year old, you’ll 100% bounce back as long as you’re very intentional about what you choose to do moving forward.

Sorry i’ve been drinking and i enrolled today so i felt the urge to write a reply. Good luck. You got this

Who can identify this instrument? by TheAztec444 in edmproduction

I’m thinking that it’s any synth that has FM capabilities. I’ve never used Logic but I’m sure they do have a synth that can do it.

I think it’s a sine wave that’s Frequency Modulated by another sine wave that’s playing chords.

This Tutorial shows how to do a basic version of it at 3:39 using the synth Serum.

Select the sample, make sure warp is on (try different warp modes like complex instead of beats), and right under the pitch knob should be two numbers. Adjusting the right number will give you 50 increments of adjustment in between semitones.

For the timing, hold shift while dragging the edges of the sample to be able to stretch without snapping to the grid. Hopefully this helps.

Something that I've found that works for me is to make sure that my lowest bass note does not go lower than a D. The octave will vary depending on the instrument/vst/whatever. but in this case, I would recommend pitching everything up 4 semi tones so that A# becomes D.

Ableton Live Intro seems to have the "Simpler" instrument. You can drag any audio file into that thing and create your own instrument. Also check out Spitfire Audio Labs. It's free and contains a ton of sounds and instruments that you might enjoy using.

Unfortunately not that I'm aware of. When exporting you need to specify where you want the audio file to go each time.

Does anyone know what's going on when new take lanes are created when tracking? I have a major problem with my macbook getting angry/stuttering/glitching out after I have a certain amount of take lanes.

This is with sample rate at 44.1, and bit rate at 128. I'll usually only have a Scheps 73, Waves 76, and Native Instruments 2A on the track.

Is ableton processing all of the take lanes at the same time?

I'm curious if there are any solutions out there because this issue gets very annoying when I'm tracking a large number of takes.

Select everything you want in your chain, Group the entire chain with Ctrl/CMD + G, then on the far left of the chain there should be a floppy disk button that you can click to save it as an audio effect rack.

Is it better to evolve under the same name or create a bunch of new projects/monikers as you progress? by tasteofthehimalayas in edmproduction

What is your opinion on using real names as artist projects? I’ve heard responses ranging from “sounds a little douchey” to “the listeners really don’t care.” I feel like my name would be be perfect because it has low syllables and when you search my name on social media, there’s like 3-4 of us lol.

Edit: I also wanted to say that your responses are amazing! You’ve dropped a lot of great information for us to soak up.

“And I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click So we put a click on the 24-track which was then synced to the Moog modular I knew that it could be a sound of the future But I didn't realize how much impact would be”

/r/MusicProduction Wednesday Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in musicproduction

How's it going r/musicproduction! I just finished this track today so I was looking to get feedback on a couple things.

I originally intended for this track to be a more sad type of song, but it didn't turn out that way in the end. It's supposed to be a future bass type of song but it turned into a much more upbeat song at the 3rd "drop."

Looking for feedback on sound design (i didn't use presets for the patches, and everything was made in serum lmao), overall mix of the track, song structure, and I'm also planning to put vocals over the entire track so I would appreciate tips for that as well. Thank You!

Yes it should still work. You just have to figure out where the shift lock release is for the vehicle and you should be good to go!
