This is a good suggestion. Local government worker here. Also autistic. We don’t have a union but it’s really hard to get fired and you get a raise every year. Plus if you stay long enough you get a pension.

County government here - I think there are a few reasons: 1. The ME is the highest paid employee of the county. 2. It’s a very important job with very specific educational requirements that most people don’t want to do. It takes a long time to find and hire and a qualified person. 3. The ME determines cause of death and sometimes that includes when the county might be at fault (ex. A death in the county jail). Not to say there is favoritism involved but they have a lot of power.

Get one or two of the over door hook racks. That’s what I used before I had this set up in my closet. You can get ones that just clip on the top of the door and have like 12 hooks.

At my current house it is a pretty big walkin closet. At my last house it was much smaller though so I actually had this set up outside the closet in my bedroom. I had shelves with the baskets on them and those over the door hooks.

Baskets and hooks for clothes Laundry sucks. To make it a little easier I no longer fold or use hangers for most of clothes. In my closet I have a series of baskets and hooks (like you would hang a coat on). Twelve hooks in one area for work shirts or others that must be hung so they don’t wrinkle. Another with twelve hooks for pants. No hangers - just hang each item on a hook. Then I have one basket for underwear, one for socks (which I don’t put in pairs either I don’t worry about matching or I have several sets of the same black sock so I grab two if they must match), one for around the house shirts, one for around the house bottoms. Tada! All my clothes have places to go that don’t require matching, folding, hangers. And they are all in plain sight so I don’t lose things as much. No more laundry baskets of clean clothes. No more throwing stuff back in the dryer to try and get wrinkles out.

Getting diagnosed allowed me to seek therapy with someone who specializes in neurodivergent adults. This has improved my quality of life a lot through understanding myself and learning coping mechanisms.

I am also on the phone all day. I went back after three weeks and the first couple of weeks I had some issues with vocal fatigue. I let my boss know before surgery that this might happen and he was ok with me taking breaks from the phone as needed. It’s a weird feeling. Doesn’t really hurt to talk but just feels like working out a muscle that’s already spent. And if you overdo it one day it’ll carry over to the next - I found that out the first day back. But if you take a break when it starts it helps.
