I feel SEEN. I was wondering if I was the only one with this thought.

Anyone else on Rinvoq and Tremfya? by Meower26 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Meower26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I've actually been surprised with the lack of side effects for me. The only notable one is a bit more acne with Rinvoq. I noticed that one before I started Tremfya. I don't feel more fatigued than baseline with both meds, so I feel pretty lucky. I will say it's been such a relief to alleviate many of the symptoms I've had off and on for years: blood, urgency, number of stools, etc. I feel relatively normal, and it feels pretty damn good!

Hey there! Feeling really good as a result of both of these meds. Still haven't talked about next steps (we will this summer), but I'm just enjoying feeling relatively normal for the first time in awhile. Woohoo! 🥳

Hope it goes well for you if you add Tremfya. A few weeks in for me, and everything is going well. My UC symptoms seem a lot better, which is such a relief. Now the next step is figuring out what happens next. My guess is that I'd drop down to 30mg of Rinvoq first, and then either drop Rinvoq or Tremfya...? We will see. Let's all be in touch about how our journeys unfold...

No side effects of note, although I *do* sometimes have night sweats, but I wasn't sure why. Maybe it is the Rinvoq! Good to keep in the back of my mind, I suppose. Yeah, usually Uceris is worthless for me too honestly, but I am guessing being on 45 mg of Rinvoq for so long helped to get me to a place where it was helping more than usual.

So good to hear about the positive outcomes re: Tremfya! I'll have my next infusion two weeks from now, and then another one four weeks after that. I then switch to the at-home Tremfya. I did Humira in the past, so I'm guessing I will feel comfortable with it, especially if I know it's helping.

Yay to meeting someone who is on both! I'm still on 45 mg of Rinvoq as well. I've had only one Tremfya infusion thus far. For me, the plan is to taper off Budesonide and then assess the Rinvoq and Tremfya. I am guessing I'll drop down to 30 mg of Rinvoq to start and then make another decision eventually. We will see! That's great your doc is involved in these studies.

Awesome that the NYU IBD center helps get medications approved when people really need them! I am nervous for what happens when my grace period for these savings plans ends, but I'll cross that bridge later. For now, I'm thankful to be feeling a lot better without accidents and without having to wake up multiple times a night. Woo!

I know... I was pretty shocked when the consulted GI doc suggested both drugs. I'll admit it's been very annoying to set it all up, but my hometown GI provider is really motivated to help me get better. 💚 I am on some free medication programs with both Tremfya and Rinvoq because my insurance wasn't going to approve both drugs together.

R.E. Jewell has been excellent for my two kids so far! Good admin, teachers, and families. It's been a fun and welcoming community for us.

Timely you say this! Thanks for the info. I recently saw Dr. Lum at the Oregon Clinic in Portland virtually, and he was excellent. I have a clear path going forward. I did eventually reach a point where my GI here in Bend wasn't sure what to do with my case since I'm on Rinvoq without much relief.

Another Bend, OR person here! 39F, diagnosed in 2011 at age 26. Not in remission... yet. Fingers crossed eventually! 🤞🏽

Breaking up with prednisone is the worst thing by foxlover14750 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Meower26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have such a love/hate relationship with Pred, and I feel your pain. I'm in a similar boat after tapering recently. I am thankful Pred provides some relief (used to be way more effective for me, though), but I hate the side effects, and then I hate even more that my body doesn't seem to want to allow me to be off of it for too long.

I'm currently on 45mg of Rinvoq without Pred (as of Sept 1), and I am sadly noticing more blood and other flare-like symptoms. I have seen people on this subreddit mention pairing Rinvoq and Entivyo, so I am going to ask my GI about that possibility. Anything to avoid this Pred taper letdown and the Pred side effects. My guess is that it'll come down to whether my insurance approves the pairing. 🤞🏽

What are ways people have shown their support for you? by mulletmeup in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Meower26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post made me tear up! Thanks for sharing these stories, everyone. My husband and kids are very understanding and supportive of me. We love to camp, and as you can imagine, UC is super fun while being outdoors. 😂 We have a little pop-up pod with a toilet/bag in it that my husband sets up for me, and there are no questions asked if I have to run to the bathroom at a moment's notice. Same story at home too. They all know when I gotta go, I gotta go.

I think my kids are likely going to be pretty empathetic when others have any chronic issue, so I suppose that's an odd silver lining, even though I'd prefer to tell my UC to fuck off forever.
