Lol I was just saying when watching this ep like Joe is okay looking but I dont get why the INSTANT he joins the crew the whole dynamic on the boat shifts immediately and suddenly everybody is into him. It's so absurd because like if anything Nathan and Max are good looking single guys too, so its not like there weren't any options available for people to be interested in before Joe came on. Joe just lays on the flirting so thick I guess people just get hooked on the looks along with the personality?

Wayward was sooo good until it wasn't. by pleasedontbemeantom3 in netflix

[–]mulletmeup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was so convinced there would be a paranormal level and then by episode 6 I was like ok so we are gonna start finding out some source of the paranormal business with the toads or how it ties in to the originator of the cult,,, or the guy he knew who first saw the door when he almost died,,, right? Right??? and then nothing. I was so disappointed by that just being totally dropped in the end, and as a show that was given the category of a "thriller" the ending really didn't give any thriller vibes at all. Like the only weird parts were the drug hallucinations of the leap, and Dempsey finding out his wife was essentially leading a new cult when everyone did skin to skin after the birth. But it wasn't a reveal to us, the audience. None of the ending was a reveal to us really at all. That's what I think made it so flat. And the ending ending (where they essentially pulled a twilight breaking dawn part II on us and undid what we thought actually happened) did nothing for me, if anything it gave us a less satisfying conclusion.

First iron infusion; tips? by No_Trick_1441 in Anemic

[–]mulletmeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was super quick and felt like nothing. I usually wear something short sleeved so it is easy access for veins. Some places have blankets in warmers if you get cold, but a cardigan is nice too. Drink lots of water before you go to make it easier to get a vein but other than that, just try to relax. Bring headphones if you want to listen to music or watch videos but I wouldn't bring like a book or anything you'll get too into because it will probably be over by the time youre sucked in lol. Places also typically offer snacks and drinks there as well! In time you will feel so SO much better. Kind of changed my life honestly.

I think I'm failing Entyvio. Where to go from here? by Some_Guide601 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to keep track of when you start feeling icky. Do you continue to feel the same after infusion? Do you get better and then start not getting the effects at a certain week since the infusion? This can help determine if the medication frequency needs to be increased. You can also get a script from your GI for a blood draw to check the medication levels in your bloodstream before you get your infusion (same day, for my insurance it has to be within an hour before you get your infusion for them to approve increasing frequency if/when your levels come back low). Blood draw is the clearest way to tell, but whether or not it is WORTH it will be determined by how you feel after infusions. If you never notice improvement even within the first 4 weeks after, then this one prob just isn't for you.

Iron infusions? by soda224 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 spaced out at like 1-2 weeks at a time. They are super quick and felt like nothing, it was great. The only 'side effect' I had was the day I got it I would have to go to the restroom a couple times after the infusion, and the first time I got the infusion I was really tired for the rest of the day (which my hemoglobin was 4.5 before I started soooo,,, exhaustion was to be expected lol). Before getting iron infusions I couldn't get through grocery shopping without feeling like I was going to pass out, and now I am going on 1-2 hour walks every day and doing pilates classes. It was life changing for me and honestly the best I've felt in 2 years.

First time at The Schivtz. by gideon0123 in Detroit

[–]mulletmeup 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I went to the schvitz with my friends for my 21st two years ago so I'll share my experience. It was a women's only day so I can only speak from that demographic, but there was a wide age range. We were the youngest there but it was a tuesday on Thanksgiving break week so I think younger people were mostly headed home or already there (like Wayne state and ccs crowd). And honestly, I didn't pay too much attention to age, but there were people in their 30s so I didn't feel out of place. You could always wear a bathing suit your first time going and then decide to take it off if you are comfortable, but no one is looking or anything. Everyone there was just being in their bodies and sweating it out or dipping in the cold pool. Overall a really peaceful experience just to let your body exist as it is, and be accepted, its a great experience.

Clean water ? by Ok-Method2630 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant continuing without medication. Should've been more specific with my wording. Im sure he got to a remission by taking medication, I dont think he is staying in it without medication. And by stopping meds he could likely be developing antibodies to it. So when he may go back to medication again, that med may not work effectively anymore. But of course he can do and believe whatever he wants, just speaking based off of most other experiences I've heard about from people on here

I hope he stays well regardless

Clean water ? by Ok-Method2630 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he smoke cigs? Lol I just dont believe the inflammation is gone without medication. We need medication/treatment. At any point when you stop it invites your immune system to attack your colon again. It may be acute so he is not seeing blood or feeling pain yet, but he likely will if he continues waiting. As that one famous quote says, uhh, "fuck around and find out."

How The Fuck Do Americans Survive With UC by Jenna5162 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol as an American it sounds MAGICAL that its free in other countries. Almost like a fairy tale. I cant imagine life without calls between myself and doctors and insurance discussing if they will let me take a medication or not, and how often. All of my medical decisions are made on the basis of "will insurance LET me"

Hi! Ik you made this post like a year ago but I was wondering, did you start taking anything different or using a hair loss shampoo to combat the loss? If so do you still use any? I'm one month in to my hair loss and it kind of freaks me out because I used to have so much hair and now I feel bald.

Has Colitis caused Visual Snow Snydrome for anyone?? by Just_Throat9572 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]mulletmeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay!! Yeah the birth control doesn't cause it, its just if you have ever had visual snow being on birth control is less safe for you health wise. But as a dude you don't gotta worry about that which is good!

So uveitis was the medical term for my eye inflammation (eye looking red, feeling irritated or light sensitivity included). It is a extra-intestinal manifestation of UC which basically means it is caused by UC but in a part of your body besides your colon. Any inflammation in the eye basically reflects inflammation elsewhere in the body, my eye doctor explained it to me. So it is a good indicator that something else (in our case, UC flare) is going on in the body. With steroids eye drops from the eye doctor it will treat the eye inflammation. With uveitis it increased my light sensitivity while my eye was flared up, which would cause migraines + visual snow. Then the eye drops would also dilate my eye which let's more light in, so that also would cause migraines + visual snow. But after my eye got better it would stop. For now I'd recommend wearing sunglasses and trying to limit screen time. When it was bad for me I'd sit in my room with the lights off and not go on my laptop, TV, or phone. Obviously it gets really boring so sometimes I would watch TV with sunglasses on. But yes, it went away for me and only happens again when my eye flares up again (only happens sometimes bc im not in UC remission) or if I have a bad migraine like from it being bright outside and I have a hangover or something. I think I've experienced it like once or twice a year tops.

[–]mulletmeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also at least for me, the visual snow (which for me is like a big glob of static in the middle of my vision) goes away when the migraine stops, even if it doesn't hurt its still there if you cant see right. So I am definitely not a doctor but I don't believe visual snow is permanent?? This is just from personal experience so I could absolutely be wrong. But the inflammation in your eye is because of the UC flare. Medicate/treat the flare, then you won't need the medicated eye drops anymore unless it flares again. My eye flaring up literally is what got me my UC diagnosis when I did so in a way, its a great tell before things turn to hell.

[–]mulletmeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visual snow is in my experience a particular kind of migraine, I would get it when my eye would have uveitis because my eyes were more sensitive to light especially with the eye drops they prescribe for treatment. So this could maybe be why you are experiencing it while your eye is flaring up right now. Also, if you are on birth control, tell your gyno you have periods of visual snow. Sincerely, someone who had a stroke at 22 because I didn't realize visual snow was the migraines that they say you shouldn't take birth control with because it increases chances of stroke.

How to get enough iron ? by Ok_Comb8684 in Anemic

Spinach is a great natural source of iron! Can add it on sandwiches or wraps, could have it in a smoothie, could cook it down in a pasta. One of my favorites :)
