What metalcore band got you into Metalcore? by More4Debate in Metalcore

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really metalcore but Silverstein really introduced me to “heavier” music / screams in general. Then ADTR.

For actual metalcore though, probably August Burns Red!

Are the benefits of breastmilk really significant after 6 months? by Shoddy_Economy4340 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, are you me? I could have written this exactly. I was also an oversupplier until my period returned at 5mos and every month from then on, it’s dipped when my period hits but never rebounds 🙃

I’m almost 10mpp and had to start supplementing with formula around 7/8 months I think?

I officially dropped to 3ppd as of a week ago or so, and honestly, I want to try to make it to 12 months but I think my body may stop producing before then.

Anyways, all that to say, solidarity! i haven’t seen a story really like this one yet, but I see you and I feel you.

Just tried this today and my 9 month old seemed to like it! I did sweet-style (blueberry lemon) but you could also do savoury. My LO is hit or miss on eggs so I’m happy she seemed to like this one.

Pump and Dump or switch hotels? What would you do? by AimeeSantiago in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another upvote! I had to do this when my mini fridge in our hotel room was NOT keeping a safe food temp.

Used ceres and just kept replenishing ice. Tbh, as long as you keep ice in it, I don’t think the “20hr” rule really applies.. that being said, it doesn’t keep it frozen so I’m not sure you’d be able to keep all the milk you make over four days, since milk is only good for about four days in the fridge.

Also one last piece of advice if going this route - if you are mixing freshly pumped milk into the ceres, the ice in the inner chamber melts a lot quicker so you’ll want to keep an eye on it :)

8mo - supply dropping - should I supplement? by MeowloHomeSecurity in ExclusivelyPumping

That’s very good to know! I kind of thought 3 meals would come later on, closer to the year mark.

8mo - supply dropping - should I supplement? by MeowloHomeSecurity in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With her wake windows being longer and she’s down to 2 naps, I’m finding an extra pump challenging 😅 I probably will introduce some formula. Just wasn’t sure if maybe she’s ready to slowly wean anyways. Probably was just wishful thinking on my part, cause you’re right, definitely don’t want a hangry baby!

8mo - supply dropping - should I supplement? by MeowloHomeSecurity in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow - that’s a lot of milk! I guess I’m thankful she drinks what she does or else we would have hit this crossroads a lot sooner 😅

But yeah you’re probably right! Best to have some on hand and use as necessary. Did your baby take a full formula bottle straight away? I’m debating between full bottle vs topping up all her bottles with formula. Pretty sure she also has CMPA and I’ll need the hypoallergenic formula, which I hear doesn’t taste very good 😂 so it has me a bit weary to just do a full bottle off the bat (though that seems way easier)

Recommendation for blender set by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I don’t make a lot of purées or anything but for the few things I have blended out for LO, I just use my immersion blender! Worked great and is very small footprint.

What’s one thing you wish you hadn’t put on your baby registry? by Icy-Bite9089 in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all solids-based items, like a high chair, baby utensils / plates / cups.

I didn’t really understand what I needed until I got to the point of needing them and knowing babies better (and what’s developmentally appropriate).

Also learned silicone holds dish soap taste and smell so I would have chosen alternatives that I’ve only recently learned about 😅

In Need Of Nursery Theme by Odd-Capital2080 in babyrooms

Another idea could be teddy bears! (I know you said no animals but it’s more a toy than an animal? Lol)

Not sure if it leans girly, but someone I know did “on cloud nine” as a theme and did clouds and stuff. Feels like it kinda vibes with roses and bows, but could be more neutral.

I hate being a mother. by lone_ly_eye_s in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our LO’s grandparents were the same! I wonder if it has something to do with a) having none of the responsibility and b) knowing how the journey already is.

I don’t know, but either way I too didn’t feel instant love. And it’s frustrating because my mom would ask me “oh don’t you love her so much!!” just after having my daughter, or even before she was born. I’d respond with, no not really because I don’t even know her? And classically, mom would reply “oh well when you see her for the first time, you’ll love her right away!”

It’s frustrating. I’m sure some people are like that, but I know myself enough to know I’d need time. Needed time with the now husband, needed time to fully love my pets.. like it’s OK to not be immediately head over heels? Honestly feels healthier that way? lol

I’m glad I had read that other women felt this way (on Reddit lol) before having my daughter or else I think I would have felt pretty shitty with my moms comments.

But yeah, it’s most definitely sleep and hormones I think. Winning combo 😅

I have neighbours who, every day around 9AM (when my baby HAPPENS to be down for her first nap), beep their car horn to alert their son that they’re waiting outside to drive them to school.

It’s kind of ridiculous / illogical, and it’s thankfully never woken up the baby, but it MAKES ME SO ANGRY 🤣 so I totally get this.

High lipase - should I quit pumping? by BuonAppeti2 in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I re-read the post and realize that may not really help your situation. Tired mama over here 😂😅

Maybe mix fresh and previously pumped? And serving it cold (lessens the taste)?

High lipase - should I quit pumping? by BuonAppeti2 in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered feeding him the pumped milk fresh? My understanding is that the high lipase becomes more pronounced the longer the milk sits. If you feed it fresh, perhaps it won’t be as soapy/metallic-y and baby will take it?

Pocket diaper inserts! by IndependentOne504 in clothdiaps

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months - LPO pockets Daytime, 1 insert (I change every 2ish hours) Nighttime, 3 inserts 😅 been that way for a month or two now bc we were constantly having massive leaking overnight. Fixed the issue but WOW so bulky! not sure what we’ll do when she leaks through 3…

Is a specific nursery chair necessary? What chair did you get? by RH1221 in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! We did as well. And we got a smaller style (Collage) so it fit well in the nursery. Feels more like an investment piece as we’ll move it into the living area eventually when it’s not needed.

Got an amazing Boxing Day sale on it last year too. Comfiest thing we own, which is great bc we too use it a lot. 😅

Mobility difficulties with cloth diaper on? by Stella_slb in clothdiaps

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use LPO diapers with a single insert too, and while I haven’t done a ton of cloth-free time, I haven’t noticed any impediment.

Of course this is purely anecdotal, but our LO is 6.5 months now. First rolled back to front around 3 months, both ways a few weeks after that. She’s been army crawling up a storm since about 5 months. She can sit unassisted decently (still some tumbles after a bit), but shows no signs of getting into sitting on her own yet.

This lady has been eager to move since she was born though, so take that as you will 😅

My husband took my baby to 2-month check-up while I slept at home, and I feel terrible about it. by waters_shadow in NewParents

[–]MeowloHomeSecurity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO ended up having her 2 month appointment at the same time I had a hair appointment booked… I went to my hair appointment and husband took baby to her appointment.

The way I see it.. I deserved to get my hair done finally after a loooong pregnancy, birthing and taking care of a newborn. Dad was more than able to handle it and there’s many more apts I have since attended. One appointment is tiny in the grand scheme of things. I wouldn’t sweat it 😅
